check out the side-by-side review of the D100 & D70 at dpreview. I think you'll see the D70 is by far the best choice.

There are suprisingly few differences between the D70 and the D100. The D100 offers a stronger more robust body that includes both titanium and aluminum. The D70 is slightly smaller and lighter but, being the newer of the two, actually incorporates a few extra features. Most notably the D70 is quicker and has a larger cash. This means that it can hold more pictures in the camera before actually saving them to the memory. If your memory card is quick enough you can basically shoot continously until you have no pictures left. The D100 will start to slow down a little after shooting 10 or so. Really the only reason to go with the D100 is if you feel you need the stronger more professional body. It would seem hard to justify spending 500 dollars more just for that(although it does for some people). I'm no pro or anything, I just work at Wolf Camera and have had the privelage to play with both, and I always recommend the D70 over the D100. Hope this helped a little and for the record, I'm extremely jealous of anyone that has the blessing of owning either of these cameras.

make that 3 votes for the d70. newer technology, overall better camera, and better price.

Here's another review site. imaging resource
It was one of the first I started visiting and I relied upon it heavily in at least one of my digicam purchases. But after a year and a half of reading their reviews, and the others mentioned in this thread, I am getting a little skeptical of the objectivity there. They seem to ignore some of the lesser makers (such as Panasinic) while always praiseing certain brands more than most other reviewers (Sony & Canon). |

I own a D 100, but if I was buying today I would strongly consider buying the d 70. Either way both cameras are the BEST!!!!!!!!
