First let me start out by stating that I like and respect you and your work. As a newbie, I find your work to be one of the best here.
Now on to the reason for this thread. This is regarts to your thread "Wanna improve your photography?" As a regular 5.somthing avg'er I found your thread unhelpful. As Jacko said, "I see no value in this original post. Any guidelines for improving photography, John. No ... value was not created by getting a discussion going." I not trying to bash you or your comments but as someone trying to improve his/her skills, things treads like this aren't helpful. Discussions are great, and yes we all need ask ourselves what you know about photographic composition, and yes if we can't answer beyond "I know what the rule of thirds is" then we may want to do some investigation, but where? What would be helpful would be some links to look at, or some book suggestions.
I've tried going back to some old treads trying to read as much as I can, but as you may know, the older the tread, the more dead links you find. I enjoy this site for the simply reason that most members are very helpful, and don't flame or bash the newbie for asking the simply questions, but there is only so many dead links I can take before I start to shut down.
My point to this tread is this, If you truly want to help, I am willing to learn, just point me in the right direction...
