On Christmas Day regular gas was $3.04 per gallon, today almost everywhere in town is $3.19. A 15¢ jump in two days. I know $3.19 sounds low to some other places through out the country and around the world but that a big percentage jump [5%] in two days. Anyone else seeing a large increase over the last two days?
Could it be the result of congress not extending the tax subsidies to the to ethanol industry?

$3.19 per gallon would be less than $0.80 per liter. Around here it sells anywhere from $1.20 to $1.35 per liter. Since you have around 4 liters per gallon, you're still paying way less than we are in Canada. Prices go up and down here all the time, and it very ofter coincide with hollidays where people use their car the most. Summer vacations, Christmas, spring break. Those gas corp sure know how to suck out every penny they can out of our hard earn paycheck. |

I think we have one of the most expensive fuel (gas) prices in the world here in the UK, but I haven't noticed any significant increase over the holidays. What I have noticed is that the gap between diesel and petrol is widening. It's now 9p per litre more expensive for diesel. Soon it'll be cheaper to drive a petrol again! |

I know the cost of gas is higher there due to tax. Quebec gas tax is 42.017¢ GST + QST of 13.5% is applied on top of sales amounts after the GST has been added.

Here in Italy it's an awful moment: we pay 2.20$ per liter. 6 months ago it was around 1.60$... we should use horses! |

What is going on is the Iranians are beating the war drums threatening to cut off the Straits of Hormuz... through which one sixth of the world's oil supply flows.

Iran is threatening to block the Straits of Hormuz, in reaction to the US imposing sanctions for seeking nukes. The US sanctions would restrict the oil revenue to Iran. It's a game of "chicken". |

I wish the US could come to an agreement on the pipeline from Canada. I think it would help our prices and Canada. But I don't know enough about it to say one way or the other. I guess I need to read up on that a little more.

Being on vacation I see really really cheap prices so I don't see the fluctuations. When I get back to Florida though I'm sure ill notice. |

Why don't you invade Canada? They've got loads of oil, plus they'd be easy to beat. |

The occupation would only last from April to November, then they would have to leave for winter, along with the Canadian snowbirds (that being the seniors who flee to Florida for the winter). 8-)
Or, as I heard a comedian say one time. It would never work, we have our cities strategically separated so if you miss by a mile on either side you will be at the North Pole before you ever see anyone. |

Here's a great fuel price calculator on the BBC Website:

So no more complaining when you Americans see how good you have it compared to us saps in Europe. |

I can honestly say if I ever had to pump it myself (which to this point in my life, I never have), I'm not sure I'd know what to do. ;D |
