Have y'all ever received a low score on a photo you thought was great and had that suspicion confirmed by having it put up on 1x? I guess I'm just curious what the lowest score that we've received that was still "good enough" (obviously subjective) for 1x. I've yet to get one put up over there and I'm getting a little down on myself :(

It's very hard to compare voting results at DPC with publishing success at 1x Lee. You can have a great image here that doesn't score well based on it not fitting a topic well. You don't have to meet a topic description at 1x, you just need to submit into the appropritate genre.
And don't get down on yourself if you want to be published at 1x and haven't been yet- lots of great images get rejected because they just aren't what "1x" is looking for :)

4.1 here, published at 1x -- for whatever that's worth.

This image received a mediocre 5.6 on DPC, but was published on 1x.

I have just looked at the winners of 1x competition and I have no doubt most of them would score low at DPC. One wonders why one would want to persist on getting published at 1x! It is an illusive and frustrating pursuit where you are at a mercy of a tiny group of individuals. I believe being published by National Geographic would be a far greater accomplishment.

Well, nobody'll argue with THAT, but 1x is a tad more accessible :-)

That submission is slightly left field for the criteria "product shot" though =). 1x just rates if an image is good without context.

Well, I know THAT, but... Jejeje...

Awesome! Yall's images are just beautiful! I was just curious to see the difference in opinions between the two sites. I know 1x is truly an esoteric bunch but I have an irrational need for their approval...though I know I shoudn't. love your art guys!

Never won a ribbon, never had one put up at 1x. Sometimes, the voters are right...

Nonsense!

I have often heard that argument and find it amazing that some people still honestly believe a true comparison can be made between these two very distinctive sites.

I am also quite aware that some will argue that one site is judged by people in the know, whereas supposedly the other consists of votes of mere cretins.

To those who do consider themselves truly knowledgeable, do visit this site [.Art Test and let us know how you made out.

Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder.

I think all you have to do is think "what would the capabilities of a chimp with a paintbrush be" and the test is easy, no knowledge on art necessary. I don't like any of them though =). Well, the Jackson Pollock is interesting to me, I'd maybe pay £5 for that in a garage sale =).

None of my images have been accepted to 1x, including both of my DPC ribbons.

Here's a slightly more interesting art test.

I made 100% also, which is really odd because I don't know anything about art either.

I got 75% right on this one( i missed a Kandinsky) and 100% right on Ray's one.

Interesting to do. I do like Chimp art a lot though and see no problem with animals creating art. It's usually better than most of the rubbish i see on billboards and packaging everyday anyway. I'm simple in my appreciation. If it's a cat rubbing paint around a canvas it's probably not art but it's getting there. If it's a highly glossy well lit studio photographic shoot to sell insurance then it isn't.

Got Klee and Kandinsky wrong. This was a much better test as the boundary is much less obvious.
PS I am not sold on monkey art :)
