This image got 34 5's...

what are you people thinking??? that this is an average photo? How can you tell it even meets the challenge?

I think way too many people have "5" as their lowest vote. You're wasting your voting range.

AND... you're robbing me of my brown ribbon! That's right, 5-voters, I blame YOU!!! Now you must confess, why did you give this image a 5?

I gave you a 4... If that makes you feel better...

Hey, I didn't vote that challenge. Looks like close up of a femur to me.

I was beginning to think you were selling out to mass appeal for a couple of challenges there.

If it's any consolation half the blue ribbon winners don't seem to meet their challenge either. Voting is fickle and the popular vote doesn't always have much meaning.

Those silly 'bucket voters'

I bet one of them was ubique

How refreshing! A rant about NOT getting low scores :-)

Completely agree, I've started using 1-4 MUCH more since all the whining about low scores, I feel it's important to use the full range. It's like only ever considering 2 parties at an election, no wait....

sometimes when I find an entry suggestively lewd or even just bordering on tasteless I cannot bring myself to give it any vote at all. how counterproductive is that? I shall answer for it I know in the great by and by which seems to be coming sooner than a rich man can sink himself on his yacht.

crybaby.

How could it NOT receive 5? As far as I know, the following rules apply:
For having colour +9
For being in a reasonably standard format +7
For having a subject +8
For not being sharp -25
For being grainy -10
For being at the start of the group of entries +16

And the winner is ....... 5!

I thought it was crap and was going to give it a 3. But then I thought maybe it was "artsy crap" and I was missing the profound hidden significance and bumped it to 5.

Seems I don't know how to separate my crap from my art :)

I thought that perhaps Stevie Wonder was playing with his camera again.

I didn't get to step 2, and just gave it a 3, LOL.

No, I think you got it right ... the "problem" is a title which gives it enough context to make it (barely) recognizable, qualifying it as "artsy crap;" I probably would have given it a 6. A totally irrelevant title like "Argyle" might have clued-in the voters that this was indeed targeted for the nether end of the standings, and any high votes would have had to be deliberate sabotage.

it had a title? I guess I wasn't paying attention. pourquoi?

i think you may have been rightfully beat... see the real brown winner made it look like he actually trying to take a picture of wine!
therefor it generated the extra bad votes...

I gave you a five because I liked what I considered to be the 'nose'.
09/26/2011 01:26:21 PM · #25
merde, now 5 equals artsy crap.
