Just when I thought I didn't need any more software, Nik do an upgrade to Color Efex. CEP 3 is one of my favourite plugins (after SEP2) so I cannot see myself passing up the opportunity to upgrade.

Just went to buy it but it doesn't seem to be available yet - I can't see when it is released.....

Do you know Sarah?

According to the Flickr group sometime in October (precise date not specified). You can preorder I think.

Just been looking at some of the new filters and enhancements. It looks really nice. Will look forward to trying it out.

Many thanks - their products have changed my photography so much; I'm hooked.

COOL! Thanks for the link, Sarah.

Yes, CEP3 is great, but the changes in CEP4 look fantastic--and I have been wanting to be able to combine filters in CEP3 since the beginning--that will be a welcome addition.

I use this on most of my photos, it has really improved things for me and also quickened things up, thanks for the link.

Yes, thanks for the heads up! Will definitely upgrade, I use the Nik software constantly.

I've been using the Nik control points in Nikon Capture for years and I love them. I've also been following discussion on Nik products, especially the HDR, Color Efex, and Silver Efex.

When this version becomes available for purchase I might have to finally pull the trigger on the whole package.

Any discount codes floating around?

I love CEP3, and was waiting for an upgrade to combine filters.

However, they do milk us dry $$ wise, even on upgrades, don't they!

I've passed up the last three module upgrades in the LR suite because of that...the old ones work pretty good anyway. Partly I was waiting for CEP! Now with 4 to upgrade...I could buy a new suite outright (when it's upgraded) and still pay less than the individual upgrade prices.

This is awesome news, I'll go check out their website now!

I think I read that there will be a history feature - that is extremely useful for the times I play, get what I want on the small jpeg, then want to re-create it later with the RAW file... I can never remember what I did.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who does that!

I like the entire Nik suite. History and custom presets are very useful.

Nope, me too.

I sent in a ticket once, asking them if there was ANY way to export a file from the plugin at the time of saving an image that would describe the settings applied by the plugin. Especially when they added history to SEP2-- but the history is lost when saving out of SEP2. Their advice on SEP2 was to either Save A Custom Preset for Every Image (!) or do a series of screen shots to get all the slider positions, etc. (!!). Maybe they will have done something better in CEP4

Oh, I didn't think you could export custom settings for CEP 3. That will be a useful new feature, plus the ability to use multiple filters in one go will be great. sounds quite powerful

I'm not sure it can be done in CEP3--as far as I know the custom preset was a new thing in SEP2. I'm hoping it will be in CEP4, though.

I may have to wait a few weeks before I download as I'm travelling on business for the next three weeks. Look forward to hearing some reports.

New features list...

I've been using CEP4 for several hours now. Very powerful new features. My fav is the ability to stack filters and save recipes.

Ditto. I've never had CEP before. It's quite elegant. Does anyone have a list of which filters are included in the stripped-down version, 26 vs 55 in complete?

Filters in the Stripped down version
I did manage to install on my laptop. Really like the stacking of the filters, it's worth it just for that feature, especially for LR/Aperture.
