Yeah, I used my friends mac recently - he's a graphic designer and uses this monitor for the majority of his work (and his work colleagues use similar monitors I believe), so I was actually pretty appalled at how bad they are at showing definition in darks - especially considering how much apple market to this target audience.


I have three different computers that I can view my photos on, 1) My main Gateway 19" CRT (~1994 model) that I use for editing, 2) my wife's Dell laptop, and 3) my work Dell 19" LCD. Any photo I produce looks different on all three, the worst being the 19" Dell. I have to be careful with sharpening halos. They are much worse on the LCD screens than the CRT.

I probably need to look into replacing the CRT.

I'm trying to comment on all the images - meaningful comments that is. I think it's important to have discussion and commenting going on, more important than voting. I think one should be able to justify their vote.

I have noticed that some seem to be able to quote recent votes like HawkinsT. How do you see these votes??

All thanks to NiallOTuama's PC/Android challenge monitor. It updates every minute so can work out how people are voting - of course if two or more people vote on your entry in the same minute the program will have to guess how exactly they voted.

You could also just become very ocd about refreshing your scores and see how people are voting that way... but thanks to NiallOTuama my mouse button doesn't get quite so worn out any more =).

This surprises me. I thought this challenge would have drawn more comments. I'm not in this one, but voted and commented on almost half the entries. I'll try to get some more in later...
