Awww.... went to bed with a 7, (it was even at 7.8 for short period of time.)
Woke up to a 6.3.
6.3 is quite nice, but the 7.8 was prettier :D

I thought our we were supposed to have an entry that "uses these colorful little bricks?" I heard the interpretation from someone that the men were bricks. I just thought the men were the men and the bricks were the bricks. |
I would have to agree! I have no problem with people using people & blocks together, but people on their own?
My stats:
My Shot: 6.0556
You have rated 49 of 49 images (100%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 4.4082.
My favourite so far: [DELETED]
Sorry but im not giving high votes to people only shots! |
why? Lego is Lego there were some great Lego people only shots. it would be a shame to vote some of those people only shots low, they are technically Lego, if not the bricks. |
See, this is another case where some are taking the wording a bit seriously. If it's a Lego item (figure or brick or whatever), it counts. People need to loosen up. Anything Lego counts... |

I would love to be sitting in a boardroom where a company asked you to get a picture of their new green enitutive car... then came back with a picture of their fork lift. There would be dead silence in the room except for my laughing. |

but its the people that bring life to the bricks. My lowest rated shots had no Lego people. Lego hasn't been just colorful little bricks for decades.
You are entitled to your opinion, i just hope the others aren't voting like you. |

Naw. the lego people are definitely considered legos. They still fit, imo. Where do you think the term "blockhead" originated? |
google on "clockhead + etymology":
blockhead:
"stupid person," 1540s (implied in blockheaded), from block (n.) + head; probably originally an image of the head-shaped oaken block used by hat-makers, though the insulting sense is the older one.
so.....Lego "people" still not the same as Lego "blocks" IMHO (if the challenge had said Lego "pieces" then this discussion would not be happening)

I didn't enter this challenge.. but I did just vote.
And I gave GREAT scores to GREAT photos... BLOCKS or NOT (as long as it was Lego)!!!!
They are all lego blocks, they all stick together, you can get into the semantics all day long on either side of the argument. If it is LEGO with the holes and posts for snapping together... It got voted on (by me anyway). And some of the Lego people shots were VERY GOOD, maybe that's what the fuss is about.
On the topic of the naughty legos... If it makes you feel uncomfortable, turn the page. I don't think I am going to hell after seeing what I saw in this challenge.

I like ignoring the trolls and pretending what my score would be without the votes of 3 or less. So I'm currently at a 6.7 instead of the 6.3 that my computer is showing me. :D |

You are entitled to your opinion, i just hope the others aren't voting like you. | Umm you would be so lucky to have people vote like me. ;-) Take a look at my average vote given :-) so a 10 becomes a 9 for not having the bricks as the subject. oh no :-( |

No offense, but DPC is going to be a long, tiresome affair with this mindset on challenges. It's a lego challenge. Since the dawn of lego, lego people have played an integral role. I'm not here to alter your voting style, but think about how difficult it will be to enjoy DPC when you keep the box so tight. |

While I disagree with your definition of the challenge, I can see where you're coming from.
I applaud your voting average and I appreciate that you have the guts to explain your vote. If someone thinks my picture does not meet challenge -- I would much rather know. It doesn't matter if I agree or not. I appreciate knowing the reason behind the vote!! |

The challenge description is "Take a picture that uses these colorful little bricks as the main subject". So obviously one should score an entry lower if it uses only minifigs: minifigs are not "bricks"! By the same reasoning, an entry DNMC if it uses only black or white bricks (black and white are not "colorful"), only contains large colorful bricks (large is not "little"), or contains only a single lonely colorful little brick (it says "bricks"). ;-)
I believe the description relates to LEGOs in general, not specific restrictions on entry content. Corollary: Minifigs manufactured by LEGO should be considered perfectly acceptable. IMHO.

And this Legos Products is what you find when you go directly to the Lego corporate site. I see alot of lego 'people' in those shots.
I'm not in this challenge but I am voting and enjoying the creativity I see.

I think there is a lot of room for indavidual expression and style within the challenge request. The object is to perfect your skill to match the request as close as possible. Not alter the request to match your skills. There are many challenges that allow for context shifting. |

Lego people are people too! All from the same family, it takes a lego block to make a lego person...... |
