We have to take a step back and think why we responded so enthusiastically to this particular challenge, why we tried different ways, why we put more heart into it, why we made more comments than usual. Why the people who did not participate with a picture were so interested in the whole process.
Just right after Ben's challenge, we have two with mixed results and disappointments that are still in the voting stage. Two challenges in which at least half of the people met the challenge faithfully, sometimes with technical brilliance but without taking the next step and some doing routine work.
Just doing a ROT geometrically correct or taking a picture of a pattern or texture without giving it a meaning is not what we aim for (there are some great pictures there also, but looking at the two mentioned challenges in whole, how we performed as a group is less satisfying, thus the generalization).
If we would have a challenge stating: photograph one egg or one stone or one key I bet that we would try to go a bit beyond the one object depiction.
Anyway, I join everybody in thanking Ben for being such an important source of inspiration and for his diligent follow up of our work and Don for all the (permanent) effort.
We are lucky to have a neurologist and a poet among us. |
