I just recently purchased a dell 5150 laptop and I'm have trouble with photos and graphics on the internet. These images have jagging all over them. This is only on the internet. On the computer itself photos amd graphics look amazing. I'm wondering if its just how the screen is organized because on my desk top monitor images on the internet look fine.
I've been searching all over the internet and computer properties, but I have not found any solutions. I also have not had any time to contact Dell HQ. So I was wonding if anyone else has had similar problems or have heard of this problem. |

I'm thinking it's caused by resizing the pictures without resampling, or very poor resampling. If the pictures have a link to full size where you can put the original sized picture, it may work better. Another possibility is that your computer's graphics card poorly displays pictures (which to me sounds very strange, as that's what graphics cards should be able to do). Try going to your site from another computer and seeing if they are still jagged.

If you have "large fonts" enabled in Windows I've found that Internet Explorer will (inexplicably) believe that you want all images on websites enlarged as well (hence the jaggies).
This might be what you're seeing.
I'd suggest trying to view the same sites in some other browser, such as Firefox or Opera.

I dont know what to tell you. I also run a dell 5150. I have not had the problem when processing photos from my nikon d 100. I would call dell. They always fix all my problems. The are great and becasue they are I am on my 4th dell. dc |

Try installing the Firefox web browser. It will take you only a few minutes, most likely resolve your problem, and significantly enhance the security of your computer (by not using IE) to boot.

I have never heard this problem before. It sounds pretty strange to me, but if it is a problem with the computer then Dell will fix it pretty fast. I have a few dell computer and also use one at work and have only had 1 problem with all of them. My cd burner broke one Saturday evening and I called Dell that night and they couldn't fix the problem over the phone which sucked, however they had someone knocking on my door on Monday to replace it. It doesn't sound like its a problem with the computer but if it is they will sure take care of it.

What type of internet service provider are you using? Your problem sounds a bit like what I had when I tried using an "accelerator" service. |

My suggestions are either coolhar's response or make sure you don't have automatic image resizing on...
Internet Options -> Advanced -> "Enable Automatic Image Resizing" (under Multimedia) |

Well problem solved. As I was waiting on the dell call line the automated phone service would cut in giving advice. It gave some advice for text that had blur or jagging. I tried it out and it worked (even though it wasn't the text that had the problem.)
I right clicked, went to properties. Then to settings and advanced. Then under general I changed the DPI from large to normal. I restarted the computer that fixed the problem. Thanks for all the feed back. |
