The "All digital photo copyrights ... without permission." is on the webpage but not explicitly within the body of the TOU. Also, the bit about "We use original images for validation— nothing else— and they remain accessible to the SC indefinitely." should probably also be spelled out in the body of the TOU just to be clear, and should be amended somehow to spell out that originals and derivatives of those files will not be displayed on the site.

As for those who take umbrage at nit-picky discussions of this sort, if you don't like it, nobody is forcing you to read it. Cheers.

Not really. You're late in asking if you upload the RAW first and then ask the question.

Don't listen to them weheh! I've only had to submit RAW files for validation a couple times, but I am absolutely convinced that they were sold on the Chinese black market and this has resulted in my current financial crisis - there's really no other explanation. Why do I remain here? Well duh, I am conducting an ongoing investigation to expose this underground economy of Langdon's. Unfortunately nobody has requested validation on any of my images since I started investigating, but with your cooperation, I can install this sort of LoJack software into your RAW original and we will be able to track it when it shows up on one of those Chinese stock sites.

Of course we'll have to keep this all hush hush so they won't suspect anything. Lift up your keyboard and make sure there are no listening devices under there...

If you're unwilling to play by the rules, or at least understand them beforehand, why even enter? To steal the spotlight, if only for a moment, from the ribbon winner who would be on the front page, had you understood what you were getting into before entering?

To start a forum thread and generate more attention for yourself?

If you play a sport, with any seriousness, you'd better know the rules before you take to the field.

When you uploaded your entry you obviously ticked the box saying that you agree with the Terms and Conditions. If you didn't agree with them back then, then you shouldn't have entered. If you had any queries you should have sorted them out BEFORE you entered!

I can see the point. His image has been on the front page for a couple days while he decides whether he wants to comply with the terms he already agreed to. If he decides not to, it will probably be another day or two before they get around to the DQ and thus robbing h2 of 4 + days of front page exposure for his image. It's reasonable for people to be miffed by this, IMO.

I can't speak for everyone else, but for me, I am miffed because of people not following the rules.

Thats all i'm irritated about as well. obviously if you cant follow them (the rules) you shouldn't be playing. or entering. Honestly, if you start a thread like this, you should expect this kind of response from the DPC community.

It takes a village... Unless Ken burns it first.

In the meantime, the OP has been here for four years. Plenty of time to read the TOS, or at least see the messages about original submittals. Somehow the "I only asked a question" seems a bit disingenuous.

The submittal of originals has been the rule since the day the OP got here. The "question" was asked and answered. A member of the SC stated exactly why the originals are kept, and what the limitations of their use, and the rights to them were. Yet the point continues to be belabored.

Originals submitted for validation are not used for other than the validation and future reference. Since they are not posted on the site, the other usage rights do not apply.

It's time to either submit the original, or decline and accept the DQ.

Lol, honestly this whole "I would rather DQ than give a trusted site that has never misused anything my RAW file" seems so weird to me, that I almost suspect that you don't actually have the original, and are getting out of the normal shame of the inevitable DQ by opting out with moral reasons :-P

As Ray said, I am not everyone. And even I have no interest in putting him on trial.
I honestly couldn't care less, as it looks like he is going to be dqed either way. I am just amused by the whole thing, and what I posted is my gut thinking to being confused about this thread. One naturally tries to figure out what confuses you. I don't understand his reaction especially after winning a ribbon. I cannot understand how someone would rather DQ a ribbon than briefly show some proof, and to me, my suspicion makes the most sense as a possibly explanation.
Its a public forum and thus public opinions will be voiced. I feel that posting my opinion is my right. Not trying to condemn him, and not trying to start a pitchfork mob.
