The number of beheaded and otherwise-mutilated people in that shot is breathtaking... Cool details though. |

Equally amazing, the Sistine Chapel, with choral accompaniment.

Leonardo had nothing to do with the Sistine Chapel -- it was painted (frescoed, actually) by Michaelangelo. |

Why would they leave all the headless people and floating heads in this huge shot?

Even in the areas where there is no movement, the stitch is far from perfect. It's stitched automatically, and I'm guessing the output of the stitcher is a single-layer image, eliminating the possibility of modifying the stitch lines after the fact. You'd need some incredible hardware and software to handle a multi-layer stitched image of this. You'd probably wind up stitching sections of it, tweaking them, then stitching the sections together and tweaking those stitches. Individually tweaking the stitches to achieve the best possible stitch would take weeks or months of hand labor, given the number of individual images. |
