I've been looking at the lensmate adapter as an alternative to the more expensive canon adapter. Mainly so I can use a UV filter, polarizer and macro lenses. If anyone has any info or opinions, they would be much appreciated.

I don't know about lensmate, but have you checked this link already:

//www.camerafilters.com/AdapterTubes.htm

They have a Kenko 46.5 to 58mm tube for the G2, made by Kenko for 12 US dollars. And nice deals on filters, lens caps etc.

I got my Kenko 55/55 Fuji 4900/6900/602 tube from them, as well as a Hoya HMC UV and Polarizer. International shipping to Holland, everything came over in good condition, good packing. They sent the stuff within 24 hours.
The Kenko fits, no problem. All filters screw in fine and it is exactly the same as the Fuji Tube they sell here for 54 dollar.....

One other possibility, Tiffen has a lens adapter also. Check out their site on the web.

I got a Lensmate for Christmas, but haven't had a chance to use it yet.

I have a lensmate, and it works just fine.

I bought the Tiffen one. I didn't like it though. It is very narrow. If you use wide-angle, it causes darkness around the edges of your images. I replaced it with the Canon 58mm adapter. It was more expensive and filters for it are more expensive, but I think it works well.

I have the Lensmate and it was great - only saw some very slight vingetting when I'd stacked 4 filters and was working at the widest angle (I.e., not very often!)
