Hi everyone, my name is Kathie and I live in the Dandenong Ranges, in Victoria, Australia. It's a photographer's paradise here.

I was told about this place at another photography forum I belong to so thought I'd check it out. I own a Nikon D90 with various lenses and enjoy nature photography. I won a competition a few months ago and recently had an exhibition booked so am excited about that. I'm still very much an amateur though who is on a high learning curve.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone here.

From a few miles down the hill, in the bayside suburb of Mornington, a big welcome.
Good to have another Aussie to the fold.

Hi, Kathie, I am not too far away from you - hello from Hurstbridge. I have been at DPC only for a few months but I have already learned a lot. If you get lost PM me (this means Private Message - send an email) There is a bit of jargon to get used to :) I liked your baby frogmouths! //kathiesphotos.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/DSC_8400_edited-1.jpg

Thanks - still learning the area we live in. Have only been here 16 months. We shifted from Bayside (Cheltenham and prior to that Beaumaris) so it's big change but we love it here in the hills.

I understand most general forum language (PM) but anything specific to DPC is a challenge in itself. Thanks for the offer of being able to PM you. Do you belong to any local clubs here? I'm a member of the Knox PS.

Glad you like my baby frogmouths - that was a paid job, not a lot, but still paid. A client saw me in a local paper and asked me to come take the shots in his backyard as he wanted prints. And then told me I could do whatever I liked with the shots after that. :-)

Small world...grew up in Mentone and now raising our family here after moving from Cheltenham some 10 years ago.

Too many good schools in the area to think of moving elsewhere in the next 10 years or so.

I has a complaint. There are already far too many aussies with their stupid award winning bugs and sheep and stuff. Ditto for the Icelanders and their sunset seascapes. Don't we have quotas or something?!?

Oh, Hi Kathie. Welcome.

Hi Kathie, welcome aboard, and I see you have already been warned that you may become addicted. That seems to be unavoidable but it's all good fun.

Lol. I have suspected that us Aussies might be over-represented here. But I'm glad to see yet another one join. (I'm from Ballarat.)

No club, I tend to be a lonely shooter plus I am trying at the moment new ideas away from the mainstream :) What do you do at Knox PS?
