I am trying to be more diligent in shooting for stock, I haven't shot for that in awhile. So today I shot some setup typical stock shots. Shot wine and wine glasses last night for the first time for stock and it was fun, especially drinking the prop :) |

You know... not trying to be competition or something, but I should start doing this too.. Maybe spend an hour daily to shoot stuff, put on the internet, and see if anyone buys it :) |

I think I'm going to try to photograph some birds at and around the bird feeders this afternoon. As for stock, I think I'm going to try to submit some of the raptor photos I shot yesterday and see if I can get them accepted. I haven't added anything to my portfolio at iStock in 4 or 5 years so maybe it's time to do that too.
I had a good day at the PhotoWild event at the Carolina Raptor Center yesterday. I haven't gotten all my photos processed yet but I got a nice collection of good images of some birds like the great horned owl, red-shouldered hawk, rough-legged hawk, harris hawk, spectacled owl, eurasian eagle owl, red-tailed hawk, golden eagle, mississippi kite, peregrine falcon, bald eagle, barn owl, barred owl, and I can't remember what else, but it was a fun morning :) It was a good workout for the new telephoto lens.
I also need to shoot some more macro stuff. I picked up another macro lens that hasn't been used yet.

It is easy to forget about it and not submit anything for awhile. Maybe this time I can be more consistent about it. Some extra money would be pretty nice. |

What kind of money can you make from stock? |

Some people make 6 figures a year and some make nothing. Really all depends on what you are shooting, how often and many other variables. |

You definitely can make a lot of money doing stock if you put your mind to it and create the types of images that people like to buy for corporate use. My oddball stuff on iStock is not people-oriented stuff. I make between $40 and $80 per month on average, sometimes more depending on the month I guess. It's not a lot but it adds up and I use that money for oddball toys and gadgets here and there.

I took and uploaded 24 shots last Fall and had kinda forgotten about it and hadn't uploaded any more. So due to my lack of commitment and basic photos that I uploaded I have made a grand total of $10.
I am in the process of trying to contribute to Alamy now. |

How much does it cost to upload them to stock websites? |

I'm doing an assignment for the paper for Bike Helmet awareness month. Bike Rodeo, really doesn't sound like what it is. But at least it's not snowing 5 inches like it was yesterday. But man is it going to be cold!

Nice! I just bought my new helmet last weekend. Had the old one for six years and figured it was time to get a new one. And Bike Rodeos are cool - excellent way to teach awareness and handling skills to the kids. Fun event to cover - enjoy! |

I shot for my Lucky 13 submission this afternoon and possibly will for the disassembled challenge today too... I like the idea of shooting everyday or every other day... that's what i like about this site it keeps me looking for different things to shoot. Hard while the weathers crappy sometimes tho. Took a bunch of macros on Wed night, some i really like, lots of comments from my local photo club. |
