Hi guys,

I am about to upgrade from my kit lens on my 400D.

I narrowed my options to two lenses

Sigma 17-70
Tamron 17-50 (non VC)

I would mainly used it as a walk around / travel lens.

Which one do you think I should go for and why?

Thanks!!
Seb

Hey Seb, I have the tamron and it's a nice lens. I like it because it's 2.8 all the way from 17 to 50. where as the sigma go's to 4.5 look under equipment, lens and check out the top picks for both lens. I think you'll like the tamron better

Thanks! That was the lens I was going for but was tempted by the sigma's extra 20mm.

Do you think the focal range is enough for general street/travel photography?

I do, but you could consider tamrons 28-75 2.8. very popular lens here
