Is this picture bright enough? Anything not look right? What would you do with this picture? Thanks for suggestions and opinions ahead of time. (Taken in Topeka, Kansas 7 July 2004)

Well I guess no one is interested in Abe Lincoln. I thought it would be a great picture...and really wanted some comments on it..Been 3 days on here and ZERO comments. I really hope someone tells me what they think.

I think it is a cool picture. I would just want a little bit more detail in the statue.

I would crop the top and left side tighter so there was less background and more subject. And maybe tone down that bright spot on his cheek with some cloneing.

It's hard to make out some of the detail in his face in the shot. I agree with the previous posters about more detail, cloning out the hot spot, and the background. :o)

Could you get someone to climb up on Abe's back and hold up a huge piece of foam core behind him??? LOL
Any time you shoot into the sky you are prone to over exposure. Maybe wait until later in the afternoon or early in the morning to get this shot. That would be my only suggestion. Other than that it looks good to me.

It was about 5pm when I took this shot. Please give me suggestions as how to get more detail in his face. I suck at cloning...but will give it another shot. I don't have a digtial SLR..just a basic digital camera...So i can't use filters..please help!!

One way would be to be in spot-meter mode, and take your exposure reading from somewhere on the statue. This will probably give you a decent exposure for the statue and blow out the sky. If you have a tripod, try making several exposures without moving the camera, but bracketing the exposures and/or switch metering modes. If you can also end up with a good exposure for the sky, you can combine the images -- similar to using a ND filter but shaped to your image.

Also try shooting at 8 o'clock (probably either AM or PM will do right now) to get the light on the features from the side instead of from above).
