I've got my Rebel [300D] up for auction on Ebay
EBAY AUCTION

Canadians only..sorry...this is my first auction and I don't know too much about dealing with overseas bidders so I'm playing it safe. Plus I may have done the paypal thing wrong so someone may get a free camera
;-)
I mean...errr....um...nevermind....

Upgrading Upgrading Upgrading. For the past few months I've been renting a D60 for every real gig. The rebel only serves as backup and is mint. It takes great photos with other canon lenses, I was shocked. But I still can't afford two cameras and I can't show up as 'media' with the rebel.

I shouldnt but LOL, one of the news groups I frequent keep saying the 300D is not pro, but the 10D is... well apart from a couple of very small capabilities (depends on requirements) the only real difference is that one is bulky and black the other is not... go figure!

i do understand where you are coming from... but... there may be an advantage with using a 300D if taking candids of celebs, they are not going to think you're media (press) so will be more relaxed.

I find that what I'm wearing pays far more dividends to what I'm using... when I do a rock or bike venue I wear a suit, when i'm doing an erotic shoot i wear ripped very old jeans and a scruffy t-shirt, the only time I am close to the correct "type" is when I do weddings... suited and booted, but with my hair looking like the "pet detective," sure does get everyone looking in the right direction, lol.

The D60 you mentioned is a down grade over the 300D, if you want a match plus then you need the 10D, or if its looks then go for the D70 as its close (price wise) to the 300D but on a par with the 10D looks wise; the only real difference between the 300D and 10D is body, especially if you get the hack... and I've not found a reason to use it yet!

Why not paint the body of your 300D with a flat black modeling paint? It should stick quite well to the surface.

You could make some stencils and use a reflective white paint to put the markings back into position. It just seems like a serious waste of money to sell a 'brand new' camera, losing some money, for something as simple as the body color.

If appearances really mean that much to you, paint it black.

Everyone that knows anything about the Digital SLRs know that the 300D can take some particularly sexy, vivid and powerful images. Personally, that is enough for me.

If someone looked at my camera and said something about how 'unprofessional' it was. It wouldn't bother me, as I wouldn't be there to show off my 'penis', as much I would be there to shoot photos. and if I felt that I needed to respond, I would pretty much say something along those lines. Regardless of the gender of the other photographer.

If you are happy with the shots you can take with the 300D, then keep the 300D. Work it like it's meant to be worked and buy a MarkII when you sell enough to get one.

Where the heck do you live that the body alone costs more then $300 over Canon's suggested retail price?

You can buy it online across the US from a variety of Web-sites for $999 in the kit that comes with the 'Starter' lense. Some even offer free shipping...

I hope for your client's sake that you have a backup camera in your plan somewhere. If you are shooting weddings, or any event, you need at least two camera bodies. What's your plan if your main cam becomes unusable?

If you are working as a pro (accepting money to cover events), you really can't afford NOT to have at least 2 cameras.
