My iPad will import images from my cameras, and can editbthem. The browsers just won't work with DPC.
Wondering odd anyone has found an app out there that will let the iPad upload images to the site?

I have been patiently and silently waiting for some intelligent DPC user to develop some sweet dude iOS app. It's only a matter of time I'm sure. |

That's in my schedule, I'm glad you brought it up. The hard part it putting money into development not knowing is apple will let it into the app store or google to let it into the android market.

Google Android is open source, not true? I am betting time on Google. Ignore her at your own peril. |

I would think that if it were DPC specific, or limited to images, Apple might allow it. There are apps for uploading images to Flickr, and Facebook.
But then again, when I think I often get into trouble.

I keep wanting to start making android apps. Been learning how to write for it. I have always wanted a DPC app |

Web sites such as Facebook and SmugMug all have published APIs that allow developers to interface with their systems. DPC doesn't have a published API that I'm aware of, so developing an Apple or Android application for DPC would probably range from problematic to near impossible.

Why does DPC need an app? A mobile version of the site would be sufficient.

The android app store will let it in, they let anything in and then complaints remove it. You can also install it without using the android market, there could simply be a link
somewhere on DPC. |

I can't speak for Android but on the iPhone/iPad I think it will need an app to access the file system in order to upload images. Other than that, DPC works fine for me as is without an app. |

You store your challenge submissions on your phone?

It would be nice to upload iPhone images directly here. |

I'm getting the iPhone 4 on Verizon next month and have ambitions of submitting a shot or two in challenges this year. |

I'd actually like a more streamlined forum app for the phone. I don't think I'd submit photos directly from my phone, but it would be nice
to have a more phone friendly forum interface. |

Of course not. But while traveling I take pictures with my camera (leica or canon) and upload them to my iPad via a camera connector. On my iPad I have the ability to edit but not upload to DPC - which would be nice when I'm on the road during the entire submission period. I personally have no need for this on my phone. |

I'm ok with dpc on my phone browser. It would be perfect for my commute if I could vote in challenges on my mobile (android) |

I intended to do this over the holidays but a mixture of forgetting, eating too much, catching the flu, drinking too much and general lethargy discouraged me from writing an app.
I wouldn't be putting it on the market though cause I don't want to have to pay to put one thing up there. With Android, at any rate, you can install apps from the SD card. Don't know how that works with iOS. Anyone know?
Anyone care to make a wishlist for the app? :)
The first version will just monitor progress of your entries.

Voting on challenges on your iphone would only serve to negate the whole image size debate that has raged in the past! 640 pixel limit verses 800 pixel limit or more!!! Personally I am against being allowed to vote on your mobile phone! I do enjoy browsing through and making comments in my head using my wifes android OS phone! (She's jealous because I waited to upgrade and am now getting the iphone through verizon!) |

I agree absolutely--in browsing with my phone the image qualities simply don't look good enough for my liking. And I don't know if there's a good way to calibrate your phone.

Oh dear, if you saw the screen on my laptop you'd let me vote on my mobile - it's way better. |

This is part of the problem. On my iPhone 4 the images looks too good due to a small tack-sharp screen with millions of colors. It's hard to be critical and I would not recommend voting with it. The iPad however is IMO big enough but it was dealt with by DPC and it can be used to vote with. |

The iPad is able to vote. I don't, because I prefer the calibrated monitor of my desktop. I would like to be able to upload though, when I am away from home. |

o.k. idea for an app for iphone and android:
Members can check their photo scores and compete in phone side challenges.
Maybe?

It works not like that ;)
iPhone doesn't have an SD slot, nor any way of copying a normal app from your computer to the iPhone without jailbreaking.
When you get the actual "publish to the app store" license for your app (which costs real money) you get 100 beta slots that that you can add iPhone UUID numbers to and those phones are able to install your app. Traditionally you had to install it to iTunes and sync the iPhone to install it, apparently now you can do it over the air,
//www.paradeofrain.com/2010/11/taking-the-pain-out-of-ad-hoc-testing/
but it is still limited to 100 users and you need to know their UUIDs.
