I have searched and there are no such programs offered in the town I live in for Photography course, I have been able to take some half decent pictures, but am not very good at being self taught. Does anyone know of a good easy to follow and learn on-line course that is offered? I don't mind putting out a little bit of money as Photography is a great interest of mine, I just can't seem to grasp all the concepts on my own
something that had weekly specific assignments would be perfect ( I know I could do the contests here but I wouldn't have people telling me how to do them first ). When people just say go out and shoot! that just doesn't work for me as a learn tool.

This probably won't help you a lot, but for a few quick videos with tips and tricks it taught me a lot of new stuff.

Understand that. I'm the self study type myself, but many people learn better with direct help from another person. There are a lot of folks here that will trade feedback and help back and forth, and agree not to vote on each others entries. We did a side challenge of that sort this past summer, and I think a number of folks benefited from it. I worked with a couple of members that used the same software I do (Corel PaintShop Pro) and I think it was productive. I hate to call it mentoring, but I guess that's really a suitable description.

You could try BetterPhoto. They have many different courses to choose from depending what your interests and skill levels are. I did one several years ago, it was rather too basic but would be good if you are just starting out.
Better Photo
And then there's Perfect Picture Shool of Photography . This one is run by Bryan Peterson who has written many books about exposure and composition. You could try that, similar style to Better Photo.

hmmm yes I think I will start paying more attention to these. I guess I just need to put in more effort and maybe reach out to some people here on the forum! |

I learned so much from these pod casts. I would highly recommend them to anyone. I have also found the creator of these pod casts also will email you back almost immediately with any questions you have with his tutorials. I just watched each one with camera and manual in hand and then when I was done I would go out and practice the things he taught. It had been a great base for the things I continue to learn on this site.

| Check your local library for photo books. You'd be surprised at what is there, and some libraries may even have down loadable books. |
