For those Canadians out there, if you're interested, the Cadbury bicycle factory is happening. Last year they were able to make 5000 bikes to send to Africa, and this year they are hoping for 5000 more. All you have to do is go to thebicyclefactory.ca and enter the UPC code to create virtual bike parts, 100 of these parts make a bike. So far they've made 3634 bikes and with your help they can make more. Also for every UPC code you enter you can opt in to a draw to be flown to Ghana for ten days to help distribute the bikes. Airfare, hotels, and spending money is included for the ten days. If you would like to participate but don't eat chocolate for whatever reason, you can still help out. For the gum chewers out there, both Dentyne and Trident are owned by Cadbury. Maybe you're more of a gummy candy kind of person? Maynards is also owned by Cadbury (Cherry Blasters, Fuzzy Peaches, Swedish Berries, Wine Gums, Sour Patch Kids). When you enter your UPC you can choose to enter it with a team, I have created the team "The Narwhals". Choose this team or another team if you want, doesn't really matter to me. You don't even have to choose a team if you don't want. The important thing is that kids in need get their bikes.

Thanks for reading,

Jamie

*warning* rant....and totally not directed at you, Jamie.

Bikes to Africa?

//www.google.ca/images?hl=en&source=imghp&biw=1848&bih=952&q=african+cities&gbv=2&aq=f&aqi=g6g-m4&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=

Why must we constantly reinforce this image that Africa and African nations require charity and are unable to provide for themselves? Yes, there is poverty there. Yes, there is disease and crime and all the rest of it....JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER PART OF THE WORLD. For Pete's Sake, Cadbury...send food to the drought-ravaged areas of the world, send medicine to flood-devastated parts of the planet, build a school where there isn't one...Bikes for Africa? Why not Nintendo Wii's for Africa?

/rant off
