Please! Spotted in a jungle style garden in Cornwall (Lost Gardens of Heligan if you're interested). He is only about 10-15mm long but look at the stinger on him!!
Oh, please feel free to add any other bugs which need identifying - not that I can likely help... |

Teamie, how dare you! I still have the scars... ;o)
Actually, he is real. This was my snapped insurance shot. I was going in closer with the 180 macro when a house fly chased him off. To give a sense of scale, the house fly was three times his size (width) and about the same length. |

No, I still don't believe you, but commend you on a most excellent Photoshop job! ;-)
That looks like the stinger of a scorpion, the legs of a grasshopper, and the body and wings of some other beasts.
Good photo, though, especially for an insurance shot. |

Too bad I didn't get it on video. It would've been a good mini-Darwin award of some sort. :-D He soaked his tongue in a lot of beer after (and before). |

Ahh, what a shame!! If you had only been able to identify it as a male scorpionfly you would have won - A NEW CAR -.. Too bad huh? |

Con him into using it on his nether regions next time and you might arguable qualify him for a real Darwin Award.. (there is argument that death is not the ONLY way to remove oneself from the gene pool)...
I suggest tequila this time.
ETA: Get it on video this time ok? :)

I've got one of those. I've been dying to take it to the pool and slap a few wet bums with it.

Actually for the car, she would have had to notice that not only was it a male, but that it is called Jeremy. Sorry! |
