Thank you everyone! I am excited to play with it. I think I will finally have the time tonight - hopefully I can pull something together before rollover and have my first entry with my 7D! |

Hey everyone, I, like morladelacroix, am a new Canon 7D owner and new to dpchallenge. Congrats on your new camera. I am a film major and got the 7D with video intentions but I am starting to get into photography myself. Welcome and good luck :) |

Congratulations Amanda!
And congrats and welcome, Hermes - I dig that name "oblivior" - it has a superhero ring to it. Post an introduction in the Welcome Center. |

Thanks Amanda, I once wanted an oblivion screen name but it was taken so i replaced the n with an r. It's been stuck with me ever since. I just checked out the Welcome Center and posted a "Hello" to the dpchallenge world. Thanks for the heads up! |

By the way, some numbering going on with Canons.
400D is better than 350D but 50D is better than 40D and 1D is the best not 1000D
Confused? |

Well, the Rebels went 300/350/400/450/1000/500/550 more or less, right? And each was an improvement on previous. That 1000 is an anomaly for sure...
The mid-range went 10D/20D/30D/40D/50D, with each being an improvement, more or less.
The 1D's have always been #1, eh?
The 5D series filled a gap nicely.
So the anomalies are the 1000, 60D and the 7D. The 7D is more than an evolution of the 50D, and in some respects the 60D represents a step backwards in the 10D-to-50D evolutionary line.
So it's a little confusing, yeah, but not dramatically so to me, at least.

Don't forget about the Canon D30 and D60 (just to add to the confusion) |

Don't forget to set the correct date and time :) And congrats on your new camera. Now time for that 70-200 :) It looks very nice on the front of the 7D. |

After all that, get a good chiropractor. 7D and 70-200 will get you some back/shoulder-pains :P |

Congratulations, the 7D is simply a big, big joy. And with the newly announced 60D, I think the 50/40D people have a lot to rethink when they plan to renew or upgrade.

Just to confuse me. I've been contemplating the 7D for a long time, but could never commit to it because it is rather large for my tiny hands. Now I will have to decide between 7D and 60D. Will have to do lots of reading. The problem is I was really keen on 7D's focus system. How much worse is the 60D going to be in that department?

Not so much - not now I have seen the 60D! 7D Mk II it is - or possibly, since Junior Robinson is on the way and the fun fund is about to be squeezed... 7D MkV!
As long as my 50D doesn't suddenly get worse with the announcement of all of these new cameras, or 15MP suddenly fail to satisfy, I think I'll get by. ;o) |

I have pretty small hands -- and I wanted to go with Nikon for that reason (14 years ago when I started photography). But I could swing the canon A2, but couldn't afford the nikon. I have no problem with the 7D.
