Due to the new arrival of my Nikon i been at it like a teenager with a girlfriend.. nothing perculier about that though. I have submitted a photo, a strange photo but I feel is very extraordinary. Its a tough one to sort out and I hope to get into the top 100 for the first time (I hear ya'll laughing)but we all must have a dream, it's what keeps us so young and handsome (speaking of dreaming).
I just like to wish everyone the best of luck for this challenge. the hardest part is getting your picture to 'meet the challenge' as it has been said before, peoples idea of what 'meets the challenge' is as varied as Englands penalty takers... :((

I'm stuck
wanted to get a portrait done, had everything all lined up
fell through due to some family committments
now...I've got photographer's block on the "Extraordinary" challenge.
By the way,at what point am I able to refer to myself as a photographer?
when I pic up the camera the first time?, when I hone my craft?
or when I get paid for my craft?
Maybe I'm still just a hack!

I had to wonder about your joke you told about your husband coming in and finding you vacuuming!
I believe the question was, " Your computer crash? Or did your camera batteries run out?"
THAT was funny! I'm of the impression you have a rich life... ==
lots to take pictures of.

I found some very extraordinary things today, and took many pictures, but most all of them are really terrible by DPC standards. I am going to enter one anyway, because by golly, I can! :o)

Getting back to Lesley's orginal post.
It looks like I'll be sitting the challenges out this week, unless I run into something extraordinary in the next two days.
Gonna miss hitting "update" every 5 minutes for a week straight!

Is it only me, or can't a well executed picture of a flower, or a sunset, or a waterfall, or a wooded glen, or a baby, or something similar represent extraordinary? I mean, LIFE is extraordinary. A beautiful rose is extraordinary. I know, I know, the judging on DPC probably won't see it that way, but I considered everything from a self-portrait (hey, I'm extraordinary! and no, I'm not trying to be egotistical; I think people are extraordinary!) to a shot of something from nature. I don't think it has to be rare, but it should be amazing. Isn't life amazing?
Now, that said, I think for the challenge the picture itself will have to be very well done -- not another snap. But I don't think we have to search for aliens, five-leaf clovers, or real live leprechans (sp?) for a subject matter.

I seriously doubt there will be no traffic : ) That would be extraordinary ! I'm just hoping they have made some progress on the 75/635 construction. I have to make that drive every two weeks or so and I hate the traffic. I used to live in the Metroplex and everytime I drive through, I remember why I moved : D |
