Found a picture taken by gyaban at TheChive. Its photo number 16 of his Knight Rider Blue Ribbon Winner.

You have another 14 minutes of fame coming to you. Spend it wisely. |

They've got some balls, putting their watermark on your image. I'd be seriously pissed. |

I don't care much about their watermark tbh. Photography is just a hobby for me, so I'm happy if some of my pictures obtain attention :) I agree it is not an extremely polite behaviour, but well, better some consideration than none.
Would be a different story if this was my source of income, I suppose. |

It's just a "posted at" watermark, not a "photo by" one. They should do what DarkRoastedBlend does and at least make an attempt to give credit to the photographer underneath the image (with a link). |

Frankly, they should do nothing. Other people's property is no place for their watermark, and their website is no place for other people's property. |

You are correct, both legally and morally, however, I interpreted George's post to mean that should they disregard both of your points, the very least they could do is attempt to attribute it correctly.
If it were my picture, I would be pleased it was enjoyed, but displeased that they had stolen my work. |

I think it would be cool to find out that my picture was posted elsewhere, especially a site that get's loads of traffic. I would just respectfully ask them to use a picture with a watermark instead and would include one in the email I write to them to use.

They obviously got it off this site, which in the first place is bad, and they don't even give him credit. |

It isn't an issue if the owner doesn't mind. |
