Hi, i'd like to come in Florida (Miami and Key west) in september, does anyone has heard about the oil problems on these lovely beaches? I should not do like to spend very much money to stay on the beach without take the baths or to have problems with this disaster...

can someone help me?

I do not found reliable informations on internet about this...

I just got an invite to a wedding in Isla Morada in October (from very knowledgeable locals), I assume they wouldn't have chosen this location if there were any indications of problems..

Also, note that the keys are a LONG way from the spill, anything that does get there will be quite weathered..

--

On an aside, do everything you can to get to the Dry Tortugas (farthest south islands in the Keys), the photographic opportunities are fantastic!

Tell me more! I'm in Orlando next week, and on vacation the week following. Was thinking about going to the Dry Tortugas just because the name sounded so cool. What should I see/do?

First, it's a long boat ride - that's where I got this shot:

Then you'll arrive at Fort Jefferson, which is IMMENSE, I suggest the widest rectilinear lens you can find (8-16 sigma?)..

Also, there is a ton of wildlife, and the reef is AWESOME (which requires an underwater camera/housing)..

The entire area is super small, so you will not need a 800mm lens, but a nice 200 could be useful.

I should post pictures here one day, but I wasn't using the best camera (G9), so I've never really spent the time to make any of the photos really pop..

I'd love to go back one day with a much better camera..

No Oil... yet anyway... I usually go to the beach weekly and I can tell you that the water here is oil free... and Broward and Palm Beach counties rank really high as far as clean water goes... gots the article to prove it...

As a full time resident of Fort Myers, I can attest there is no oil here. I have to wonder if I need to add 'yet' to that statement. I am often on Sanibel beaches and they remain untouched. I would encourage you to continue your plans.

how much i like DPC!

many thanks to all, i'm happy to hear that the oil problems are not reaching south florida, first of all because i'm an ecologist and this kind of "shit" it is time that ended, secondary i'd like to come in south florida for my honeymoon...

i'd also like to see some of you if it will be possible, stay tuned, i'll give you the date soon...
