ehm, does ANYONE sorry, but i can't modify the title...
well, after many and many years of windows pc addiction, now i've made the switch:
on my desk there is a new iMac i5 27" with 8Gb ram...
WOW another world! simple, beautiful, extremely fast, i'm very happy...
who has made the switch like me?

i'm planning to; maybe before Summer ends. i don' work, so the problem for me is to convince my parents to pay. actually that wouldn't be easy after my mom payed for my camera a couple of weeks ago.
that'd be really a new world though.

I made the switch about 7 months ago, I'll never go back to the dark side.
Its been running non stop all that time and probably been rebooted 3 times.
I run Parallels and a windows partition only to run Publisher & sync my Creative Zen player, my old PC hasn't been turned on for months...

I switched to IMAC about 5 years ago. Haven't looked back since.

I went to Apple computers when Vista came out, it was so frustrating that I bought a laptop just to see what this other computer was about. about 18 months latter I bought a iMac and have never looked back.
Keeping in mind I'm not really part of the religion, there are a number of things that I don't like in the Apple world either, but I found everything overall much easier to deal with, and I'm a old Linux guy and it was nice to have a powerful command prompt again.
Not to mention software like Aperture etc have really played a role in my renewed interest in photography.

I got a MacBook Pro almost two years ago because I needed to use some Mac-only software. I like OS X. The new iMacs came out yesterday, and I'll probably get the i7 version.
There are some things I don't like about OS X. I'll never get used to the way Photoshop's main interface works. Actually, all OS X software does it, but it's particularly irksome in Photoshop. The application's main window doesn't exist without an image, and so the desktop is visible when you fire it up. Click the desktop and the app is no longer in focus. Switch to another Spaces desktop and the app follows you there when you refocus it if no image is loaded. That really blows. There are other niggles too -- font presentation is far inferior on OS X than on Windows. But overall, I like it. I need Windows 7 for work and like it as well, but I like Mac for my creative stuff. |
