Although it certainly helps.
Here's a great video from the fstoppers blog where someone put together a nice shoot with just stuff anyone can get a hold of.
One of my all time favorite blogs.

I'll have to subscribe to this blog. Pretty neat. That reminds me, I need to do more natural light stuff.

It is a great blog and that was an excellent example of working with what you have. I was also impressed with the original iPhone photoshoot video. Thanks for posting.
eta: I did leave a comment on the video you linked:

Yeah, the original shoot was pretty cool too. These guys just toned it down a bit more by not using any professional equipment.
Haha, didn't get to read through all the comments. |

I made this picture using window. I had no other options at the time, it worked out just to be what I needed.

I would agree with most of it if they didn't edit it with Photoshop afterwards, they should have used GIMP instead since it free to download. But a very good video none the less. |

Yeah, I suppose, I actually liked it a tad better before they edited it. I liked the yellowness of the lamplight. |

Window light and a $90 lens:
Even point and shoot cameras can yield terrific results if you work within their limits. |

Great and all that!
I'm just wondering... the lamp was yellow, but yet they used hue/saturation on the whole image to reduce the yellow... but that's all it affected? :s Am I missing something here?
