Seems he flew Carrier based F9F Cougars during the Korean war. Got shot down at least once. After a few minutes, I asked to take his photo with the navy plane. Granted, military aviation is a subject I have an interest in and an easy time talking about, but my point is that I think the easiest way is to get people to talk about themselves and what interests them. |
Great point! |

In my small bit of experience so far, there is no real technique to get a person to open up. Honestly Ive never had a complaint during my shoots because we always have fun and they end up loosening up for the pictures. I come in there and Im myself, I dont put on a front. I think it helps them when the guy in charge is loose, relaxed and easy going. At the same time, confidence comes into play. That was the hardest thing for me to learn, and still learning. You have to take the helm.
At the same time, I let it roll just as it should naturally do. Its an interesting balance that Im still learning. |

This is a good example. Its a shoot I did for a band with our record label and I think they came out great, their personalities were definitely shown in these examples. I let them do their thing and found myself not having to direct as much.
