OH MY FUCKING GOD! Obama was young and inexperienced! Young and bold! Young and not in touch with one's identity. OH MY FUCKING GOD! He was just like any other human being ever born on this planet, young! OH MY FUCKING GOD!
What exactly did you have in mind when you posted this? Were you trying to belittle your President? Or was it to show his true colors?

Remember when folks on the right said it was unpatriotic to criticize a war time president?
When people said calling the president a "fascist" was giving aide and comfort to the enemy?
What has caused such a shift in the respect that the office holder is due, in such a short time?
Just be happy Obama does not embrace the notion of the Unitary executive theory or the folks on Fox news would be truly apoplectic.
I forget what comedian said it but to paraphrase this unknown "as a liberal I wouldn't call Obama a true liberal, but it makes a refreshing break from eight years of "Jesus Camp" meets "Team America-World Police" that was the Bush presidency."

I was wondering the same thing -- what is the point in posting these photos? And what's the point in labeling him a socialist? Are we all supposed to run screaming from the room in fear for our lives? Your meaning is incomprehensible... |

Pure racism...but they probably don't even realize it.
It's odd how people rank things of importance...with things of little consequence.
I mean, the OP is pissed that Obama wasn't doing something he would like BUT after voting for George Bush twice he'll defend a whole string of catastrophic decisions that threw our country backwards, physically, in world opinion and killed thousands of Americans not to mention hundreds of thousands of innocents...AND that's only to name a few things.
It's also funny how screw-ups that the "Right" supported defended of the previous Administration are now being used as props, hung on the current President.
"Could this be Obama's Katrina..."
"Is this (disaster) Obama's Iraq..."
"Obama's 9/11...his "Mission Accomplished"...his "Bailout" etc.
I don't think he's doing that great a job but given the shit-sandwich he inherited and half of the Congress that wants to do nothing but obstruct anything, just to kill his Presidency. It ain't right and the amnesia mixed with tons of bullshit is piling up so high we may never dig ourselves out of it.
Whats' worse...a President that smoked a joint OR a President that admittedly doesn't read THE NEWS ?

What caused it? Unadulterated conservative hypocrisy. I saw this coming even while they were bleating about everyone supporting THEIR wartime president, GW. It's like I'm Kreskin or something. "Dissent is unpatriotic!" Yeah, you freakin' dissemblers... at least until the Democrats win. Then the president's fair game because what you say today means nothing tomorrow. Republicans are the party of tomorrow meaning nothing. Just look at their policies! Don't worry, though... here comes the Rapture to save the day!
I would honestly LOVE it if a Democrat president started carpet-bombing conservatives with treason and sedition charges, to the horror of the bleeding heart wing of the liberal camp. Give them a taste of their own medicine and just throw the Republican uproar right back in their faces. "I'm just doing what you've demanded! Protecting the office!" Then roll out clip after clip of politicians, Glenn Beckalikes, and Ann Coultergangers to back it up, while rounding up and sending all the Tea-Baggers to a much whiter Guantanamo for some exciting waterboarding and probing questions about why they hate America so much! This is what they expect isn't it? Why not just go for it for once?
The fundamental beauty of being a liberal is thus: We don't care if a president bangs an intern as long as he's doing his job and his wife/husband doesn't care. We don't sell ourselves as paragons of artificial moral virtue, but as humans just doing the best we can. This makes it absolutely delicious when yet another conservative gets their nose rubbed into the crap THEY get up to behind closed doors, or in airport bathroom stalls, or on trips to South America with mistresses, or coming back from Europe with a rent boy 'carrying your luggage'... it never ends! It's the ultimate gotcha. The schadenfreude is palpable. Too bad their hypocrisy runs so deep that they don't hold their fallen to the very standards they profess, and don't run them out of office. Because it's about the team, right? Can't gimp the team. Hoo-rah!
This also means that liberals usually only get severely burned on fiscal hypocrisy, but who doesn't?
There, some invective. Why bother being constructive? Conservatives aren't. It's all about race-baiting pictures of afros and smokes for them, isn't it?
Frankly, I wish I could have been so hip at that age. Young Obama is damn well presented, if you can get past the whole 'from a profoundly different culture' thing.

Believe those pictures were from his Occidental College days, and average kid in 1980 (at least according to my brother who was in the same residence hall), in those days when weed was normal and even white guys tried to have afros. Ha, the days of the perm, what a lovely look. Looking back those times were a "profoundly different culture".
Among the differences between presidents 43 and 44 is that 44 decided to get a bit of focus in his life, quit weed, and transfered to Colombia University in his junior year. He took off like a rocket after that. 43 quit being a blackout drunk and coke fiend after his 40th birthday. St. Paul reminds us that when we become adult, we put away the things of childhood, it seems some people become adults earlier than others.

Jac said a baaaaaad word! I'm telling my mommmy!!! ((Sorry, just had to inject a little humor into this. I'm not at all offended by the F-word))
Republican Oath for Anti-Socialism
I, _____________________________________________________
do solemnly swear to uphold the Principles of a socialism-free society and heretofore pledge my word
that I shall strictly adhere to the following:

country, while I am duly being allowed to exercise my 2nd Amendment
rights by legally but brazenly brandishing unconcealed firearms in
public.
I will foreswear the time-honored principles of
fairness, decency, and respect by screaming unintelligible platitudes
regarding tyranny, Nazi-ism, and socialism at public town halls. Also.
I pledge to eliminate all government intervention in my life. I will
abstain from the use of and participation in any socialist goods and
services including but not limited to the following:

or Research Funding (again, pretty much all of them)
*Socialist Byproducts of Government Investment Such as Duct Tape and
Velcro (Nazi-NASA Inventions)
*Use of the Inteenets, email, and networked computers, as the DoD's
ARPANET was the basis for subsequent computer networking

Meats, Produce and Crops That Were Grown With, Fed With, Raised With or
That Contain Inputs from Crops Grown With Government Subsidies
*Clothing Made from Crops (e.g. cotton) That Were Grown With or That
Contain Inputs from Government Subsidies
If a veteran of the government-run socialist US military, I will forego my
VA benefits and insist on paying for my own medical care.
I will not tour socialist government buildings like the Capitol in
Washington, D.C.
I pledge to never take myself, my family, or my children on a tour of the
following types of socialist locations, including but not limited to:
*Smithsonian Museums such as the Air and Space Museum or Museum of
American History
*The socialist Washington, Lincoln, and Jefferson Monuments
*The government-operated Statue of Liberty
*The Grand Canyon
*The socialist World War II and Vietnam Veterans Memorials
*The government-run socialist-propaganda location known as Arlington
National Cemetery
*All other public-funded socialist sites, whether it be in my state or in
Washington, DC
I will urge my Member of Congress and Senators to forego their government
salary and government-provided healthcare.
I will oppose and condemn the government-funded and therefore socialist military of the United States of America.
I will boycott the products of socialist defense contractors such as GE,
Lockheed-Martin, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, General Dynamics, Raytheon,
Humana, FedEx, General Motors, Honeywell, and hundreds of others that
are paid by our socialist government to produce goods for our socialist
army.
I will protest socialist security departments such as
the Pentagon, FBI, CIA, Department of Homeland Security, TSA,
Department of Justice and their socialist employees.
Upon reaching eligible retirement age, I will tear up my socialist Social
Security checks.
Upon reaching age 65, I will forego Medicare and pay for my own private
health insurance until I die.
SWORN ON A BIBLE AND SIGNED THIS
DAY OF __________ IN THE YEAR _____________-. |

I want to go on record to state that I have family buried in Arlington National Cemetery. But, this idea that those buried there somehow served with more honor than military dead in other national cemeteries and even in non-military cemeteries is just pure unadulterated bullshit. Now, I have to go tell my mommy on myself! |

Ahh, for a little humor at Glenn's expense, we only need to turn to our friend Louis Black. I never get tired of it. |
I'm still waiting for an explanation of what you meant by that post. |

To be fair, you do have to earn a spot there. However, that doesn't mean their lives were more important than others', or that we ought to only honor them. I support Obama's decision 100% here. I hope our next Presidents follow suit and consider honoring our veterans in other cemeteries, perhaps close to their (the Presidents') hometowns or where they used to live...

Mine too - and America in the eyes of the world was basically brought back from the brink by the election of Obama. Obviously very powerful forces are intent on dragging it back down anyway... |
