If I put a Nikon 17-35mm lens (non-DX) on a D90, which has 1.4 crop factor, does that become 24-50mm? |

That's right, 35mm or Full Frame equivalent is roughly 23.8-49mm. DX or not makes no difference in the conversion.

D90 sensor is the Sony APS-C size, which is 1.5 crop, not 1.4. (And really-actually, it's something like 1.525...something -- so it's slightly greater than 1.5).
Not to beat the dead horse, but strictly speaking, it's still a 17-35 lens, but your effective field of view is that of an approx 26-53 theoretical lens on a full-frame body. For all other purposes, it's still a 17-35. Of course, most people don't care of consider all other purposes of a lens aside from field of view, so it's a somewhat academic point. ;)
