Does anyone else use a Sony Alpha DSLR with a hot shoe adapter to use a strobe flash? I have an A230 and I bought a Vivitar 285HV to use with it, meaning I had to get a hot shoe adapter. I got the Seagull SC-5, but am having trouble getting it to work.
My main problem is that the camera doesn\'t seem to want to talk to the strobe flash to get it to fire. Another problem (related to the first) is that, unless I set the flash setting to off, the camera\'s built-in flash wants to pop up and fire. But the adapter is in the way, so it can\'t - but Sony\'s own adaptor would have the same problem, so I know it\'s not the adapter but some setting I don\'t know I need to change (or how). I\'m thinking it may be the AF illuminator, but even if I turn that off, it wouldn\'t solve the problem of getting the camera to fire the strobe flash.
The camera manual and the stobe flash manual aren\'t helpful, and the adapter doesn\'t have a manual, so I\'m SOL there. And so I turn to you all to help me in this, my time of need (and frustration).
Sorry if this is a noob question, but I am one. |
