Too many stories, too many good times to be able to share in a single post. I'll say this, Thailand and the people of Thailand were great. We had beautiful weather every single day. Everyone was really really nice, genuinely nice smiles all around. Some key points, I didn't realize how strong the sun would be and am all red right now...swollen feet...not great for walking around. So, if you go, bring good sunscreen. Surin Beach was nice and quiet while Patong beach was crowded and busy. All the food was great, the hotel food was safe, food outside the hotel was always cheaper and very good going in, but had to rely on some stomach aids sometimes...still worth it. You would think you would get tired of people trying to sell you stuff while you are relaxing on the beach, but you can meet some pretty amazing characters...and get some sweet souvenirs without having to go into town.

On the way back, I asked the airport guy handling our check-in if he could make it so that my wife and I could have a window seat and a middle seat then block the isle seat. He said sorry, the flight was pretty busy. I smiled, figuring there was nothing he could really do but I said "You have a beautiful country, thank you very much. I will be coming back." About 10 minutes later a different guy sitting behind him came into the souvenir shop as we were shopping saying "We're going to switch seats, give you the isle seat and the window seat and then block the middle seat." Thank you thank you thank you...4 hours isn't a long flight, but having that extra room at 230am (Our departure time) makes sleeping a whole lot easier.

Anyways, the Sony RX 100 worked well. I'll write up a little something later. Here are some photos. I was shooting in manual for everything except the underwater shots. I'll be posting more on my website over the next couple of weeks. I will definitely go back. If you haven't gone and you want to get away, Thailand is great...at least in Phuket.

Wow! That place is beautiful. I spent a lot of years in Asia, but never stopped in Thailand. Might have to correct that oversight someday. Love the monkey picture. At first I thought he was sitting with his legs crossed, but I think he just has his right leg up out of view. Still a really cool shot. Like an old man eating a banana and drinking his coffee. The beach looks wonderful. Did you do any snorkeling in that bay? I bet there are some cool fish underneath the surface. Thanks for sharing!

I recommend most highly Aloe vera gel for sunburn. Apply it liberally to affected areas. I don't know if you have Kawachi supermarkets down in Osaka, but you can get it there, or a drugstore like Matsumoto Kiyoshi.

We didn't do any snorkeling in that bay. We did some of the boat near some corals and then again later on Bamboo Island. I didn't get any good video or many photos from that first day because I was getting use to taking underwater pictures with the housing. I used the DiCAPac waterproof housing. Not easy to get good shots. Here are a couple of shots I did take, the first is my wife after she got a little too excited and forgot to take off her jeans before jumping in the water...

This is of the fish...had to put the camera into P mode because I couldn't see anything clearly enough.

And this was video taken with the camera. These are little bits when I didn't have my camcorder for the moment.

Video bits from the Sony RX 100

Used plenty of Aloe Vera while in Thailand and when we got back. I saw my dermatologist today just to make sure things wouldn't get worse and he prescribed some creams along with recommendations that I keep wet towels around my feet. My ears and nose skin are already peeling...good times!
