I'm taking a digital photography class in school and we need to do a final project. This class was supposed to be my fun class, but it's ending up being so much work (I love photography but all my other classes are math classes and those are the ones I need to be concentrating on).
Anyway, I have no idea of what to do for it and I have to write a project proposal by Tuesday. It has to be more than one image, but other than that it's pretty much up to me. It also has to have some sort of meaning (i.e. it can't be just a series of pictures of flowers, etc).
I was thinking of recreating Cinderella, except doing it backwards so that when she's poor and cleaning the floors, shes dressed in a pretty gown, and then when she marries the prince, they're dressed in rags. But I don't know how feasible that is to complete in the amount of time I have (it's due Nov. 27).
So I would really, greatly appreciate any and all ideas, anything is better than nothing. :D
//edit to add that I think I would prefer things to be staged because it's getting very cold outside (it snowed yesterday!) and I don't want to set specific times to go out and shoot but rather shoot only when I have time.

better hurry up and arrange some models, a nice dress, location, a make-up artist and some props!!
Nothing is impossible. Really. If this is what you want, you can do it.
Just go for it and believe in yourself!!! |

The best and worst things about your city.
Effect of global warming.
People - all types - old young rich poor educated uneducated black white etc etc.
Your idea seems more of a story type - do you need this sort of format instead. |

nope, it can be anything.
The thing with your suggestions is that I live on campus and don't have a car and it's pretty hard to get around here w/o one. |

What about a Campus Project? All the different ethnic cultures on the Campus? Perhaps a themed student challenge, Blonds? Males or Females? Teachers? Buildings on Campus?
Hope that helps:) |

Not knowing where you are going to school, but kinda thinking that you might be on a huge campus (since you need a car to go anywhere) have you thought about doing something along the lines of architecture? I was out yesterday taking pictures of some construction when I saw on a nearby building the words "Young Mens Christian Association", 1926 and so on chiseled out of stone on the front of a building. For 2 hours after that, I just walked around taking pictures of old buildings and interesting architecture. This is one of the pictures I took...not good, needs mucho improvement... but I think you will get the idea!
When I was stationed in Germany, a friend of mine told me "look up" when I walked. Fifty or more years ago, putting up a building was a thing of pride and so much ARTwork is included in it. Check around. You might see something you might like.
Just my 2 cents worth! :}
edited to include picture

There was someone that posted a while ago. He set up a place to take portraits on the side of a school building(he basically taped up some white paper) then offered people passing by a piece of candy if they would let him take their picture. He had props, like boxing gloves, a hat and stuff for the people to use. Sounds like it's something that might work for you!
edit to add, with a setup like this you can easily make up a "reason" for the pictures. I'd say it was to test the openess of strangers to the subject of role playing or some such babble.

What a cool idea. This way by them being able to choose a prop you get a bit of an idea about the person too. |

I've been eager to try this myself. But like the op, it's cold here. I might try to get the bus company to let me set up for a couple of hours. |

Why not see if you can set up something in the student center. So far nothing you have mentioned it had to be outdoors. A camera, maybe a backdrop, few possible props and a bowl of candy. sounds like fun just waiting to happen.
Heck I might even go down the street to my local community college and give this idea a try.

Your idea is actually a good one, or at least I find it interesting. Also sounds like you could bang it out in one afternoon, so I don't think it's too much to accomplish in the next two and a half weeks (but then again I don't know your schedule). Anyway, I think you should run with what you came up with. The idea is solid and, best of all, it's your own. |

Maybe you should drop all that math nonsense and concentrate on something fun. |
