This was my first clue something was wrong. I saw this from my yard while walking the Bad Basenjis.
The rest of the photos are here uploaded straight from the camera.

thanks for sharing this excellent photo story. I hope they managed to get the fire stopped very early before much damage was done. |

Well, the valley is 'overcast' with smoke, but it seems like they've got things under control. The speed with which they attacked that fire and the precision work of the helicoptors flying through that thick smoke was awsome. It took a little longer for the "Big Momma" to arrive with her fire retardant...We had high winds and just watching those pilots work was amazing. I put the photos up on a web page, better than the yahoo album, I think.

I even got to take some pix with my 'camera to be' but they went home with its current owner. I'm sure it will be fun deciding who took what! If I were a clever dpc member, I would have entered a photo for the temperature challenge instead of spewing them all over. Oh, well.

Well, they've got the fire surrounded and are watching for flare ups. Some of the folks I work with are on 1/2 hour standby for evacuation from their homes, but we're all praying that the worst is over. Fortunately, the wind has died down and hopefully it won't come up again.

Good shots! Hope the winds don't kick the fire up again and that it's the last time this summer you get a "first clue" like that -- it's scary!

Thanks for all your good wishes. Prayers of any/all faiths are gratefully accepted for my friends who are in the path if the winds kick up. It's still very active and the helicopters can be heard in the distance. Those pilots and firefighters are awesome heros.

Woh! Those pix are indeed too close for comfort. Stay safe, Kava :)
I don't see why you couldn't still use one for the temp challenge tho...
Anyone wanna see my fav forest fire pic? OK? COOL!

OMG,Kali. That's a beautiful picture, but it makes me want to weep. Thanks for sharing. Well, I've splashed all the good ones all over the internet, but I could probably go out and shoot some new ones today. I don't know how much that anonymity thing matters. I know which kids belong to what parent photographers now and all, I've just tried to keep it a surprise.
