Technically, its in focus, its centered, but not sure its level
Sorry, but I do not understand why, and there is not a lot of appeal |
| 10/06/2010 01:09:18 PM | Lest We Forget : ANZAC Shrineby hotpastaComment: Interesting........usually called the Shrine of Remembrance though, and never really heard anyone call it the ANZAC Shrine.............
The steps though are a bit dark though, and the curve annoys me, but the lighting on the Shrine is great. I would have had less steps and more shrine, less dark area and more of the subject, but this composition may have worked if there was a little more detail in the steps....... | Photographer found comment helpful. |

A Place of Remembranceby navegante76Comment: a great place for the challenge, but I am not sure the angle and composition of the image has really used it well.......the tree is just a problem, a black blob in the middle of the image. There is no focal point in the image, the stones at the front are cropped. Focus in on one stone, and have the rest stretching in the distance.......remind us that even though the numbers were huge, each were a person, and each individually should be remembered......... | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 10/06/2010 12:56:32 PM | Wellington Monument, Aldershotby acg83Comment: Great colours, interesting Silhouette produced as a result. Colour noise though is a problem in the image, and the centered composition isn't great. I think someone else took a picture of the same memorial | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 10/06/2010 12:53:53 PM | In Memory of Private John Barry Shaw (among many others at the WWI veterans memorial site)by DudskiComment: First impressions, processing is overdone, straight on, centered composition............
But, looking deeper, there is an attempt to create something, maybe even to make a statement, to capture something that is different from the rest......maybe even to portray the wastefulness of war, the senseless loss of human life, the overall loss..........
Don't know what you did to the central gravestone, but I hope it is legal, but I fear it might not be........but I will vote as if it is.......
I now really like the processing, the statement, the image.....one of the best in the challenge. I do wonder if the crop could have been at the edge of the outside stones (cut the back ones if need be, not the front)..........
But hey, a good image..........well done for producing something both different, and one that works. |
| 10/06/2010 12:45:54 PM | We are still here by chelseabear101Comment: Lack of focus really hurts this image. not getting the crop or angle of the image either......cutting off the left name does not work, and covering up the other makes no sense to me........ |
| 10/06/2010 12:43:17 PM | Sunset of Her Lifeby kleskiComment: Depth of field is great here......really works well and makes the image. Pink is nice and makes the image stand out. Haloing though around the monument though does hurt the image.
Use of the rule of thirds does also work really well here with the monument placement. The border does finish off the image quite well also. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

Reflections are great which help the image. Some work on the colours could have helped as the reds and greens could have really made this image stand out. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 10/06/2010 12:38:46 PM | Iwo Jima flag Raising Parris Island SC Memorialby JarHeadComment: Nice monument........great colours, great day to be out there photographing.
But, why did you photograph this side of the monument........a stronger image could have been from a different angle, getting the faces if possible.......Also wondering why you did not wait until the marches had moved away. They don't seem to be adding anything, cause they are too small, so just form a distraction. The crop is very tight at the top near the flag as well. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 10/06/2010 12:35:50 PM | Latin America Memorialby LelezComment: Interesting monument, but there are a lot of distractions around it. Don't know what else is there, but maybe a different angle, combined with a tighter crop might have worked and removed the distraction elements. I wonder if almost lying on the ground near the base and photographing upwards, showing the fingers reaching for the sky might have made for a really interesting image......and something different........... | Photographer found comment helpful. |
