A nice image that, by the nature of the land, has bands running though it that seem to give it a bit of a disjointed feel. This is compounded by the portrait crop. The colours are really good and interesting. The Coyote is small in the image, but the shaddow does help draw attention

Symbol of Peace

I have stumbled across this image, and in reading the comments, thought it right to respond

Firstly, I am not American, therefore any argument (made by previous commentors) that it is patriotism regarding my comments is wrong......I am an Australian, and proud of it.

However, the claims that this is a symbol of war to me are incorrect. The America Nation, under this flag, have continued to defend the ideals that we, as a group of nations, hold dear. I note the variety of nations that have commented against this image, a combination of Scandinavian fence sitters, English who also went to war, and Americans that are willing to risk their freedom. I ask all fo them, will you fight for what you believe in??????

The American Nation, with the allied partners, including Australia, have fought to protect the freedom of people, both in our country and overseas on a number of occasions. The USA and Australia continur to fight together in the sands of Afganistan........I have mates there, we are fighting for a safer world.......Those willing to challenge our way of life, the freedoms we hold dear, through suicide bombing, through terrorism, through whatever means, threaten the safety of our nations and the world, and therefore threaten the peace that exists. By opposing them, we fight for Peace, making the USA flag a symbol of freedom, and for Peace in our world.

I am not a solider, but I work to support them......I can only hope that what I do ensures that each brave man and women wearing the uniform of my country will return safe and well to their family, knowing that they are making the world a safer place for their children, and for future generations. Simply by this, by their efforts, they are fighting for Peace, and thus making the flag that they fight under, be it the Flag of the USA, that of Great Britain, or that of the Commonwealth of Australia, a symbol of Peace for Future generations.

A nice capture, but the boat is a little too obscured for me, as you cannot see much of the rest of the paddlers. The crop I think is a little too close to the main paddlers head, as you also are getting a thin run of rocks.........The colour as well could have been processed to make them a bit richer as well

A great subject, and capturing the fireworks behind the image is really good.
However, the allowable size for this challenge is 800px x 800px. I dont know why you have chosen to submit so much smaller than that, as it means much of the detail cannot be seen, and that will hurt your score

An interesting image and a number of interesting elements in it. The dog, the edge of the side, the legs in the top of the image, the chalk arrow. Even the main subject being cropped, and being the only part of the image that is not sharp. Not sure about the border either

a B&W image in tricky light conditions. I feel that there are too many light areas especially, and not enough of the grey midtones that are needed to really make the B&W image pop.

Its a great clean capture of a big cat, although it is a little static and directly in front, but then again, its not like you can ask her to move a little for the capture. However, the blur of the background is a bit too overdone for me and makes the image look a little fake for me.
