Butterfliesby SonifoComment: What an incredible picture. I'm adding this to my favorites right now! The pose, the composition, the lighting, the depth of field, all work so perfectly to make a charming scene. Good luck with the challenge. A 10 if I could score. |

The Letterby RussComment: Although significant to the picture and necessary for lighting, the candle seems just a little TOO bright. Is there anything that can be done to soften it so that it doesn't detract quite so much from the paper, which should be the focal point? |

Written Communicationby JEFFJSBComment: I love these little wooden guys. I rarely see a photo with them in the challenges that I really don't like. The lighting in this one is nicely done to make the book the focal point while still enhancing the wooden man. Nice use of negative space as well. |

Local Callby Keith ManiacComment: Love the shallow depth of field and the fact that you kept the label on the can. That adds so much to the picture and the red label balances the person's red shirt nicely. This is my favorite of the string-and-can photos. |

Best communication tool of a deafby alithenakeComment: The way the hand is placed made me think more of a blind person reading braille than a sign language for the deaf. Nevertheless, the picture looks a little blurry and I don't care for the dark shadows on the white backdrop. I do like the composition and how you have the wrist in front of the border line. I also like the richness of the skin tones. |

From hand to handby AlbireoComment: I don't normally care too much for pictures of CDs but this one is quite interesting. I like your different set up and perspective. The "burnt" orange color tones (that may or may not be "true" since my monitor tends to be a little dark) are cool and the blurred motion of the one hand works nicely. |

Lace in Windby lytaComment: I love the colors and the framing. Don't like the motion blurr. This would be better sharply focused I think. |

Hoping it will lastby MotoCycleBoiComment: This is a lovely wedding portrait. I like the way the veil sweeps out to mirror the gown's train, filling up the left side of the shot. I think the little yellow flowers speckling the grass are a subtly exquisite touch, espeically the few that pop up in front of the gown. There is also a cluster of foliage to the left that is a nice spray of texture, balancing that half of the shot. It's hard to tell but the groom doesn't appear to be looking at the camera and his tuxedo blends a bit too much into the shadows of the background. Not a big deal, but for me, it's the only thing that prevents this from being a PERFECT wedding portrait. I gave this a 7 but I'm going to up it to an 8. Good luck. |

Sailors Hope by StagoleeComment: Assuming the light is natural and not a special effect, this is my favorite of the challenge.I love how the moonlight catches the waves and brings out the texture of the sky and how the white lighthouse and yellow beam are such a stark contrast against the richer blues and blacks, really drawing your eye there. Beautifully captured. Good luck. |
