Great image and idea! I find that the twigs on the left lead my eye out of the image to a degree. Maybe you could have trimmed or otherwise maneuvered them to remain in the frame.

I really like the idea, but I think it's a bit dark. Also, the nose should be in focus and the far left of the bread should be included.

The lighting on this is excellent. I think the image would have been more effective if it was tighter, focusing on the gondolas. Maybe crop horizontally a bit above the far left tail and vertically midway between the two rightmost tails. (I had to comment as I have nearly an identical shot from a trip a few years back. However, the lighting isn't as nice on mine.)

I quite like the sentiment and the overall idea. I think the book needs to be much larger to be effective. I happen to recognize it, but wouldn't know what it was otherwise. Also, the image looks a bit dark, but I realize more exposure would have blown the white accents. Maybe you could increase the midtones a bit.
