Flowerby KoriyamaComment: Ghostly and beautiful - love the effect, and the softness. |

Scary 101by xhossComment: This is a really disturbing photo. It works - indeed, that it is so disturbing says much about how good an image it is. It's just a bit soft, which I think makes it stronger in this case, as an incongruity with the harsh subject matter. |

An Aggie Moon over Old Mainby dsidwellComment: This is very clear and crisp for a night shot - I'm impressed, especially that the trees are so visible in silhouette against such a dark sky. The building seems to lean a bit, though, compared to the left-hand side of the photo. |

Where have all the children gone?by tomlewis1980Comment: I really like the desaturation on this one, the way it makes the playground equipment stand out so boldly. The sky is a fair bit glaring, though - if I scroll so that it's cut off at the top of the left-hand tree, I like the feel of the image much more, and don't find my eyes drawn to the sky nearly as much, if at all. |

"Required Reading"by tfarrell23Comment: Black-and-white is really effective on this one, making for a crisp/stark look that really makes it stand out. Everything's ready for the homework to start here...except maybe the student, of course. :) |

Waiting for Mumby RiderGalComment: This is classic, very crisp and clear, though when I was that age, that sort of sweet look (if it appeared at all) would have lasted only until the camera and adult took their attention elsewhere. :) |

"The Calm before the Dorm"by MorganComment: AUGH! Okay, bad puns aside, this is an absolutely gorgeous shot. Nice location, nice angle and composition - like the hint of modern buildings in the background, and the way the older ones dominate the scene. The people in this image really help it feel like this is a living place, a place that may soon be very busy and even now has some activity. |

A Teacher's Work Is Never Doneby magnetic9999Comment: Classic images for school...the backlighting is a little distracting here, washing out the edges of the apple and pencil - perhaps a background to keep the glare down might have helped, or changing the angle of the shots. Really nice composition. |

Time to Immunize!by JC_HomolaComment: Okay, first, this is a seriously unnerving shot. *grins* I like the dramatic blue lighting - and the crisp clarity of the needle and stream of liquid. Compositionally this is very strong - showing just what you need to, just how you need to, to make the point. |

They're Backby amsmythComment: There's a back-to-school sign if I ever saw one. I think you may have captured too much of the surroundings, though - all the road and stuff along it in the left side of the photo is, as far as I can tell, irrelevant to the topic of the photo, but it's very distracting and draws the eye away from the sign, even as bold as the sign is. I don't know if it would have been possible to get the shot at an angle that showed more of the school grounds and still showed the sign clearly; if not, cropping out the "road noise" would have tightened the shot up a bit. |
