Danielby howardjComment: Atypical. I like it! Much more representative of a young boy than the angelic studio portraits I too often see. |

Father & Sonby losemeComment: They both seem to emerge from an indistinguishable stump. Even jacking up the brightness on my monitor doesn't separate them. Cute photo, but there needs to be more emphasis on the faces than the hands. |

Sibling Revelryby smardazComment: Good job dealing with direct overhead light. I'd like to see more of their eyes, though. Their personalities come straight across, I like that you captured both. |

Miss Heatherby rayg544Comment: Her expression doesn't mesh with the sharpness. She looks friendly while her hair and cheeks look like they might attack me. The light worked out a little wonky with the shadows crossing her face, but I do like that her eyes stand out so much. Nice color. |

Collision courseby hajekaComment: Pretty funny, but the bee needs to be brighter because I didn't get what the title meant at first. Plus, in considering composition, the bright yellows would match nicely. I realize this was probably (sorry if I'm wrong) just lucky timing, but the focus is misleading. I look at the plane, then the plants, then find the bee and the humor. |

Paper Abstractby BooZonComment: This is a nice concept, but it feels to me like the focus is in the wrong place. I want to look at that zig-zag, but the sharpness elsewhere doesn't help, so I'm torn between what my brain wants as the subject and what my eyeballs turn to.
On the other hand, it's well lit, and I like the resulting soft shades. Since this is advanced editing, that focal point could have been sharper, but the harshness may have detracted from the overall feel you achieved. |

Blue arrowby IreneMComment: Nice movement. I like the very slightly differing angles, and the softness compared to them. |

Old Paper Tells Old Storiesby bigfishComment: The DOF is what makes this photo for me. It makes the text feel much more at home. Or maybe it's because it's foreign. In any case, it turned out quite nicely. |

all you need is(paper) loveby cutoutComment: Maybe I'm a sucker because today's my so-called "paper anniversary," but I'm impressed. You took something very mundane and lit it just enough to make it magical.
The top left and bottom edges are a little too washed out for me; instead of framing it, they distract and almost look tinted yellow.
Also, it might be more effective if you distinguished each person's features a little more, but I suppose this works as well because it's ambiguous enough that it makes even gender impossible to determine.
Anyway. I got lots of thought out of this, so it did its job. Or rather, you did yours. |

Two Reams of Paper by DistantColoursComment: Oh, wow. Very little abstract art does much for me, but this is beautiful! The way those nearly straight lines make a curve from the twisting is lovely, and you cropped it exactly to fit that upper left corner.
Your lighting is also superb - the greys look neat, and I especially enjoy the negative space contrasting with the highly textured areas of the paper edges. I'm sure you know all this already, but hey, I'm delighted to see it! |
