The definition of still-life is: "Representation of inanimate objects, such as flowers or fruit, in painting or photography." (dictionary.com)

I was unaware of any requirement for the subject to be un-naturaly staged.

Stargaser, I'm not sure what you mean by "Spectactible".

I agree with the comments, the color and focus could have been better.

This submission was rushed, and the results show it. Hopefuly this is my lowest score ever. (not meaning I am happy with the low score, but that I aim to only submit photos of much higher quality than this in the future)

Probably could have got some better contrast with a polarizer and bigger moon with a longer zoom...but I don't have either right now. (shopping for both though)

Certany did not expect a ribbon, but thought it was interesting enough to share.

I agree it would be better without the chunk of plastic on one side. Next time I try that shot, I'll do it on a bike without a fairing. (fortunatly I have access to a number of different Harleys) :-)

Yes, quite similar. You managed to get your mirror in focus better. :-)

I was shooting the boring/predictable railroad tracks and roads for this entry...when I was riding my motorcycle the morning before the end of the chalange, and looking in the rear view mirror, saw an interesting perspective on the theme! :-)

Could not get the DOF right. :-( That was my best shot of over 20, the only one where the writing on the mirror was readable and the reflection was in focus (lots of shots with the mirror in focus, or the reflection in focus, but this was the closest to getting both). After playing with an online DOF calculator I realized my mistake, I had the zoom lens at 70mm...there is no way to get the right DOF at that focal length and distance, even at F/22. Had I gone 18mm it probably would have turned out (but I would have had to crop to get the same composition).

I've had my D70s for just a few weeks (first dSLR), it is one of the first shoots that I set everything manualy.

Not bad for my first entry (IMHO), had I got the mirror in focus I think I would have done much better. I think I'll try that shot again some time.

Thanks for the comments.
