shadow manby black_countComment: you did well in sparating your model from the background. If you allow one critique: too much detail in the book. I spend more time trying to read than looking at your model. |

Erinby kitkatklokComment: Why is Erin crying? What is her story? You leave no clue to the viewer.
From a more compositional POV: the not completely blown out background keeps pulling my view away from the face |

Play, guitar, playby Yo_SpiffComment: I like the composition of your shot. Going down to his level certainly helps to be drawn into the picture and explosre more. |

Francescoby SpongetoastComment: While I have no problem with the subject of a candid shot to be aware of the photographer, a few things in this photo don't really work for me: the harsh overexposure from the right that eliminates all details in the face, the OOF approach you chose (wouldn't it be cool to see some real sharp smoke coming actually out of his mouth ?) and the lack of environmnetal context. He is a handsome guy (I guess), but what is his story? With the presentation you chose, you're risking to be moved into the "snapshot" category. |

South Beach denizenby LevTComment: beautiful study. down to the "details" in the beard and the brightness underneath the hat. |

watcherby snsComment: the lighting and level of details make this a very captivating photo. THe only item I wa not fond of: the crop through the eyes. |

Christmas Chocolate!by JulietNNComment: Juliet,
this picture for me is a PERFECT example of what we learn here at DPC about composition, exposure and all the other technical "stuff". And THEN we start applying all these technical things to our every day photography.
These shots are not popular here at all. BUT capturing precious moments, technically sound is a huge part of our life.
For basic editing (no touching up eyes,...) you did a great job with this photo. You just fell into the "unpopular" bucket :(

adaptationby bcenuComment: the focal plain is right where I like to see it. The red background on the left makes the picture really pop. It would be "dull" otherwise. |
