Footstepsby impilotComment: Focus? Possibly a good shot in here if we could really see what it was. |

Ducks in Flightby foxinsox47Comment: Birds fly where and when they fly; I can't control the sky. Settings were for something else; the ducks just flew up out of nowhere and I pointed and clicked; I was surprised the shot was as good as it was, under those conditions. Granted, comments are valid, as far as they go, especially the one about the sensor dust, which I just did not see, but generally show no understanding or appreciation for wildlife. If a cosmetic blemish is more important than the subject, something is dramatically wrong. I think I'm wasting my time in here, to be honest. I'll just go back to taking shots that please me, without worrying about pleasing anyone else, on a fake schedule such as this site requires. In short, as President Abraham Lincoln put it, "People who like this sort of thing will find this the sort of thing they like." |

Geese Gathering at Dawnby AlexSaberiComment: There's something comical about this shot that I can't quite quantify. Perhaps it's the rank-and-file arrangement of the birds. Whatever, I really liked this :-) |

Locked in on grainy pencilsby foxinsox47Comment: It is quite obvious that very few people really paid any attention to the topic. Either that, or I completely misunderstood it, but if so, I'm not alone, as there were a few others who took the Advanced Editing Rule to heart and used it to the full extent. The fact that just about every one of those shots which had effects work done on them got low marks can only mean that the vast majority of the voters either didn't bother to read the Rules, or didn't care. Sad, really...
There was one comment which had value: "A little more clarity and this could have potential." I can see the point being made. The effect I was going for was that of a pencil sketch of a deadbolt. I added the grain to heighten the contrast, but I might have overdone it.
I also appreciate the '9' that I got; at least one voter understood what I was trying to do: thanks! Message edited by author 2007-08-20 01:22:23. |
