A Storyby heidaComment: Also have to take into account the challenge is about what people thought your style used to be and this is what your style now is. |

Abbazia di Sant'Antimo by GordonComment: @eschelar thanks for explaining your score. I appreciate the time you took to comment. It actually is taken in an Abbey |

Salt Marsh at Winter's Endby Bear_MusicComment: 'I am amused at the number of comments saying "not a fan of this sort of processing"; I'd wish, in the best of all possible worlds, that folks would just vote the image on its own terms, regardless of whether they like that particular subject or approach or not, but I know this ain't gonna happen.'
The thing is, the processing is the first thing you see when you look at it. Something is 'odd or different' at first look and that's the processing. The actual subject matter, composition, etc is a very late secondary thing after the effect.
So it isn't too surprising that people talk about the processing first. |

Abbazia di Sant'Antimo by GordonComment: Originally posted by Bear_Music: Great work, Gordon. I had suspected this might be yours. It finished about as bad as one wo0uld expect, I guess, and it's a pity, but heck y'all knew that going in, right? Lovely image regardless. I'm one of your 9's. |
Yup - I'm not too surprised. Lots of positive comments. Lots of interesting comments too. The vote spread is quite different to the company it is keeping down here at the end. Message edited by author 2009-03-18 11:01:21. |

Abbazia di Sant'Antimo by GordonComment: Originally posted by deadbrain: I wonder... you were kidding, right? I just checked your profile and you are a multi-ribboned!
This one cannot be in any way your best photo.
I think you were aiming at the brown ribbon, isnt'it? |
No, not kidding. I think it is one of the more interesting and more successful pictures I've ever taken. Just look at the comments... Some people even have this hanging on their wall. An interesting spread of comments :) Thanks to everyone who left one, positive or negative.
This is all in camera, no post processing, pretty much as seen/ shot. Message edited by author 2009-03-18 09:40:06. |

l'artiste dans l'espritby yankoComment: Love the border. The picture on the right sort of ruins it.
Hmm. That doesn't make much sense. Does the opposite make any more sense?
The border at least gives him something to be leaning against. Seems to be lovely light and that one lone tree seems vaguely surreal or at least into the realm of painting, with complete control of the background elements. |

Peripheral perceptionby ZigomarComment: beautiful colour, fun juxtaposition. Really like how the hats and lampshades all rhyme with each other, repeating the shapes around the scene and the final patch of red on the right playing off the hat and the green on the hat playing with the green wall behind. Even the style of the chair works well with the hat shape, so many pieces that hold this together so well Message edited by author 2008-12-21 19:51:41. |
