hehe...very nice. I like this image very much - the shoes are almost incidental, and i like that. subtlety is often lost when the challenge topic is so literal. Not gonna lie though...I'd have gone over the top happy if there were ripples in the water just beyond the dock :) (don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting you should have done that - it's your photo, not mine - i just think that would have been hilarious). nicely done.

not sure the setup of the shoes works for me. That said I suck at that kind of thing myself so I'd have no idea how to improve upon it. Beyond that I think you nailed the effect I'm guessing you were going for - soft where it should be, sharp where it should be, well exposed with a nice vignette that draws me to the important parts of the photo. I might have cropped a little of the right side to offset the slipper a bit, but that's just a personal preference. nice work

the burning is a little obvious and the selective desaturation doesn't add much for me, but aside from those things I like the image very much. sharp and contrasty and all sorts of goodness.
