DSC_2466a.jpgby grigrigirlComment: Lovely. The model, the lighting, the pose...lovely.
It might have a bit more energy if she was further off-centre. |

Depends On Your Point of Viewby FromacComment: Originally posted by looksea: Why 1/4000? |
A valid question. When I shoot in manual, I assume a hierarchy of adjustment. Shutter speed, aperture, then ISO.
I generally adjust shutter speed, rather than aperture...especially when there's lots of light.
When light is scarce, I tend to lean more on aperture adjustment to get the exposure I want. In extreme cases, I adjust ISO.
For this shot, I was standing beside my car on a busy rural road. The fierce wind was causing frequent white-outs. The wind-chill was near -30 Celsius. My camera does not like the cold, and I knew I had maybe five or six exposures before it froze up, so I snapped as fast as I could and kept the best of the lot.
Since then I've come up with a system to keep the camera warm in the bag. I use several gel packs, warmed up in boiling water and packed in the bag around the camera. It works quite well.

Luxuryby RetroesqueComment: Love the symmetry and the low angle. Nice gentle colour tones, too.
I find, though, that the more I look at it, the more I wish I could see just a little more of the ceiling. If the camera had been tilted back, just a few degrees, maybe the balance would be better.
Other than that I find it very pleasing.
The title fits well. |

Waitingby RetroesqueComment: This is absolutely lovely.
You've managed to find something magical in a scene that would otherwise be pretty commonplace.
The lighting and the B&W make the whole image look clean and pure.
Nice work. |

Best Manby SJCarterComment: You'll get this a lot on this shot...a tighter crop would have worked better. Otherwise...you've captured his expression well, and the slightly OOF background pulls the subject out nicely. |

Pinchby ShecoyaComment: This should have ribboned. I gave it a 9. Great sense of humour, great eyes and, I'll just come out and say it...gorgeous nipples!
Your portfolio rocks. |
