True that. |
This is most definitely my blue ribbon comment for the year. :D |

I'm a big girl now.by RamblinRComment: When I looked at this I thought she must be about 3. I see I was correct. :-) Now what on earth is the controversy all about?? She's 3! If she was 12 or something, fine, but no one looks at a 3 year old and thinks they should cover up. In my honest opinion, the only kind of person who could point out a 3 YO's nipple is a paedophile. |

they run through our livesby jmritzComment: Bland, out of focus, uninteresting and boring. Let's be honest. No one is going to send a card looking like this to anyone. Christmas is about joy. This has 0 joy in it. On DPC, photos like this only have one purpose and that is to win the brown. And the commenters are usually like "Wow, art! 10!", preventing them from getting the brown anyway. Out of focus, black and white is not art. It's just a random photo with poor focus. This photo would probably look even worse in colour and sharp focus. |

Leading from the Frontby AmmieComment: Maybe it's because I know this scene so well that it's absolutely no problem to spot him... :) Ammie, I guessed this was yours. So beautiful (my focus is completely on the background)!
I would like to make an analogy. Imagine now that leader was to steal all the cows' food and give them just enough to stay alive. The cows would still follow him even though his buddy is offering them all the food they ought to have. The leader is using all that extra hay to make himself a nice big comfy bed for himself and all his wives. His buddy has to give him the food because the leader of the cows is the most important title in the village, and the villagers will imprison anyone who does not do what the leader of the cows says.
But this leader is not like that. He looks after his cows because they are his livelihood and he understands that. I wish SA's leader was more like this guy... |

Road Rage Meterby GeneralEComment: ubique, I don't know. I don't agree much.
Everybody has (or should have) their own style. How boring if everybody just did the same thing? Likewise, everyone has their own taste. I don't care much for any of the expert editing photos by gyaban. To me it's drawing, not photography. Also I don't see how many of his photos meet the challenges. Yet he scores high with just about everything.
The rubber band here does not look all that stretched or under tension. Also, I have no idea what's stretching it or how rage is stretching it. Then, the photo gives me no idea that there could be road rage here. The point is that it does not appeal well to most voters. And if that's the case why should it land higher? When I vote, I don't take a quick look. I look at the photo and find a critique in my mind. I look for the context and story where necessary. I take the time to see how an image makes me feel. Then I read the title and see how that ties in (but I don't often vote on title). I then also look at the technical aspects of the photo. This all makes me think about the photo properly before voting.
Comments have diminished significantly on DPC. It's one of those facts everyone has to accept. I have started to try to comment as much as I can. I feel it's important for photographers to know what about their photo is capturing people - it allows the photographer to look at their own photo differently. |

Leading from the Frontby AmmieComment: I love the mountains in the background. Reminds me of when I drive to the Drakensberg and we're almost at the check in and about to hike. Exciting! |
