Coldby anferhComment: The first thing I thought when I saw this was that you'll probably get plenty of comments about blown highlights. That'll be a shame, because it's exactly that whiteout that conveys the emotion of COLD. Wonderful capture, nice colours in the horses, and beautiful composition. If this doesn't score highly, I'll consider it one of the upsets of this challenge. |

The Valleyby jwillertonComment: Wow. As someone who hasn't been to this part of the world, you've done a great job of conveying to me what it looks like. The sky is stunning, from rich blues to warm and light oranges, with beautifully lit clouds. The sun and its flare help convey the emotion that you surely felt while you were there. The shadows play beautifully off the little plants, and the warm tones in the rocks in the foreground add to the scene perfectly.
Should anyone complain about the blown highlights in the sun, the dark shadows in the rock structure, or the lens flare, they are sadly missing this photograph for what it really is.
Excellent job! |

A Rock With A Viewby jonfrommkComment: Wow. That is one nasty looking bug.
Nonetheless, you've captured it perfectly. You've framed it in a way that makes me believe the bug is actually checking out the view (great title, by the way) and enjoying it!
Colours are great, contrast is excellent, and the sharpness is bang-on. Very well done. |

Rolling Wheat Fieldby ace flymanComment: Excellent find in this large expanse of wheat. The house contrasts beautifully against the field and the sky. I like the burning in the sky you've done here, and the sepia works very well. |

Staredownby MattOComment: I really like the emotion in her eyes here. It's a shame she didn't have her head tilted up slightly, as it might have put more life into her eyes. Nonetheless, she still looks ready to come at you, so you've done a great job of capturing an emotional moment.
The image is well titled, has nice colours, and good focus. Great job. |

IMPOSTORSby NitinComment: I couldn't figure out whether the title was some sort of double entendre to the guy with the phone (or maybe the couple together), or if it was simply a last minute title based only on the store in the background.
Good use of foreground, middle ground, and background elements. The contrast is good here, too. |

" Big Brother " à la Chicagoby AlainComment: Great composition, and I think the black borders on the sides help reinforce the "Big brother" idea of the huge mural "watching over" the child. Nice exposure throughout and good detail in the bricks.
I think just as interesting would be a tight crop in on the child and the doll it looks like she just dropped. |

Red Dragonby andrewtComment: One of the nice things about photography is that you can see things that you wouldn't see with our unassisted vision alone. We cannot "see" a water droplet frozen in time, nor can we see such a close-up of an insect without the help of lenses.
You've done a great job of capturing this extreme macro. Absolutely beautiful saturated colours, and nice sharpness where it needs to be. Good job. |

The Serengetiby bucketComment: This is a great shot. If the dust wasn't there, it would be much too cluttered. However, you've used the dust as a natural backdrop behind the zebra. Great contrast to the image, and nice composition; I think including the heads of the zebras on the right helps to show there are more to come, without panning out to show everything (which would lose all the detail). |

The best of 2007...by AzrifelComment: This is a really nice B&W portrait, with great sharpness throughout the face and gorgeous skin. Nice job of keeping the exposure in check. |
