You could have made so much more of this photo. The noise is on the edge of being distracting. What is more of a visual struggle for me is the non-level horizon. IMO water scenes more than any require a perfect flat horizon (unless the water is moving). I think for the book cover challenge you should have worked within the aspect ratio of a book cover. This is a photo I think could have worked well with some additional editing.

Focus to me looks too far back, behind the snakes head. I also think you would have been better to work within the challenge and produce an aspect ratio that might have been printed on a book.

The lighting looks really harsh and bright. a photo taken in the early morning or on a cloudy day would have helped make the shadows and the lighting not look so harsh
